it's like handheld sex. with a handheld woman.

With handheld vaginal warts. Who then offer handheld solutions in pill form, that do not fix your problem but rather hide it so that it may come up again in the future.

no.

also not clever. if you're going to be on the winning team, you need to play like a starter, not the dude in the fursuit getting nailed with peanuts.

no way i'm a gimmick. i'm an institution. i'm the fuckin' d-pad of gaf. sure i hurt a lot of thumbs, but most of you're at a loss without me.

In the music and movie industry you dont have format wars, fanboys and arguments. Its all about content.

Bullshit. It would suck if music artists could only play one model of guitar, buy one brand of keyboard, use one midi program, etc. It would similarly suck if those guys that make movies could only use one kind of whatever the fuck they use to make movies.

is there evidence anywhere of Nintendo listening to people from the internet?
Of course. There was that campaign to get Mother 1&2 released in North America, the big online anticipation for GiFTPiA, Fire Emblem 6, the Kururin and Starfi games... the list goes on and on!

bah I am a nintendo fan, but some people still think that NOA has a say in important decisions. They don't. I think this campaign is in vain.

I meant CD's, Super Cd's, DVD audio etc. Formats.

A unified format would have do be created by a consortium of companies... nobody (certainly not MS or Nintendo) are going to just sit back one day and decide its a one (Sony) console future. There'd have to be competition in each area like there's been with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray between the various manufacturers and supporters of those formats. Even then, there's no guaruntee the superior product idea wins out...

A unified gaming format would certainly be interesting. I think it'd be great for developers. I'm not so sure it'd be great for gamers. Having all the people who want your money agree on a new way to take it from you isn't my favourite concept. Weighing it up - I'm happy as it is now. Products that are more and more diverse yet competing with one another. If you're a true enthusiast you won't mind owning more than one console at these prices.

The real thing that pisses me off is the price of the games. I think this model of recouping costs and license fees by having prices like £30/£40 -- it seems like a false economy to me. If they can't sell enough to cover costs, or aren't prepared to let another successful project fund their vanity projects, they shouldn't be fucking making it. How can games ever hope to be as accessible as film at 2 or 3 times the price?

I'd buy a shitload of games if they were cheaper.

Yes, my liege.

By the way, I should probably reword my question. I know who he is (A board regular who trolls against Nintendo), but what separates him from the pack? Why, even after leaving for a month does every other topic on this board still talk about him? Why did he leave in the first place?

well we got rid of the store/donation page.
we don't need to worry about paid advertising anymore
word of mouth will help this thing spread...especially now that IGN covered it.

I just didn't want to be viewed as a scammer, we're trying to be serious about this.

anywho, flame away you anti nintendo / anti HD pricks. :)

The problem with a standard is it would potentially set the bar low, and could interfere with the current business model. Right now we get pretty powerful machines because these guys make money back on software. Think of DVD players. How many DVD player manufacturers sell thier player at a loss and make it back with DVD sales?
