New 2D TMNT Series Coming in 2018

Not surprising. I remember reading a interview way back where the creator said they wanted 5 seasons and that would be it.

Love the CG show. Absolutely do not want lighter content or more humor. Oh well, it had a great run.
 
Wow, weird that they are doing it so soon after the current series will presumably end either this year or next. I would love for some more turtles, but I really hope this is A-material after how great the 2012 series has been.

Exactly, the 2012 show balanced humor, action, and character moments so well. I sincerely hope they aren't going to the Teen Titans GO path with this show.
 
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Teen Titans Go ... but there aren't many places to go "lighter tone" when your previous version had a pet ICE CREAM CAT, even with The Thing parodies, Leo being beaten to almost death, some killings and THAT thing with Alopex and Tigerclaw

As one of the show's critics, I think they already started to lose the fight after the second season. Tuned out for good after Season 3.

Either way...a show that leans even more on humor just sounds more like I'll never get something that's closer to IDW's run in tone. A shame, I think. I just think Viacom doesn't really know what to do with TMNT (especially after the recent movie), so they're going to keep throwing darts until something sticks. Playmates don't care as long as they get another toyline to sell.

I just want to say how much legs this franchise has.

What other 80's franchises have survived and stayed relevant this long?

They keep re-inventing the wheel over and over, not that I'm complaining.
 
Was excited to get rid of the awful current show and then I read that they're making it younger and funnier? Haha. Did not think that was possible. Going in the wrong direction there. Oh well.
 
TF was in decline around 91-93, iirc. Comic was cancelled the there was the shitty Action Masters. (transformers that didn't transform wtf) Beast wars I believe was when it started to pick up, then mainline TF from there.
 
Wasn't a fan of the 3D show or the IDW comics so hopefully I can get into this new 2D show if it turns out well.
 
sounds like they're doing a TTG-esque reboot for something they can rerun all day long with SpongeBob and Loud House. hope the current series goes out on a high note then
 
I don't mean this as a dig at the current show because I really like the first ~2 seasons I've seen, but how the fuck do you skew younger, by making them children? The current show is the most the turtles have ever felt like actual teens before, I can't imagine them making them younger unless they're literally like starting the show on the day of their 13th birthday. Much younger than the current show and they won't even be teens anymore.
 
I guess they really do want to stop at 5 seasons. Hopefully the next series is still entertaining although I'm not expecting too much at the moment.

The show improved a lot from its start but they will often mock themselves for being a much lighter show as well as the fact that people don't like them. They're pretty self aware about how they are disliked and how they at least have some fans.

I would've been excited in the past about it being 2d, but looking at animated shows right now... no thanks, they ain't got no soul.
