I would watch a tmnt version of ttg, but ttg is superbly written and I fear they wouldn't get anywhere near that level of clever

Targeted to even younger people and lighter?

So I guess the 2003 series was really a fluke. I've been hoping for something closer to the comics, but I guess that train passed a while ago. Not interested in this.

The IDW comics deserve a damn show. Put it on MTV or something

seriously, the IDW series has the perfect balance of sticking to the mythology and adding new ideas to it. I love the concept in the first few issues where Raph was separated from the rest of the Turtles, neither knowing each other existing, reinforcing his angry loner persona

I liked the current show until they went to space, then they lost me

Yep. Loved the first few seasons. Stopped watching though.

If it's any consolation, once they get back to Earth at the halfway point of the season things pick up dramatically. It goes back to being as good as it was before the space stuff.

The 2K3 series is my favorite TV version of TMNT. I'll always be grateful it happened and that, sans the Fast Forward season, was reliably enjoyable stuff that took a lot from the comics.

I grew up with the 1987 show and watched it to death, love it.. but there's no denying that 2003 is the best iteration.

That said, I haven't watched the latest Nick one.

I would've been excited in the past about it being 2d, but looking at animated shows right now... no thanks, they ain't got no soul.

Yep. Sums up how I feel about it. I wasn't a big fan of the 2003 series at the time with its ultra stylized character designs, but in retrospect it looks like old-timey Disney compared to anything being made for TV today. As soon as I read the title of this thread I immediately had an idea in my head of what the show would be like. Very cheap, flat animation, characters constructed in basic shapes, primary colors, aimed at very young children. Because thats what everything is.

I'm not even against cartoons looking like geometric nightmares. UPA and Hanna-Barbera did some great cartoons using that kind of minimalistic approach done in a very small budget (though how much these cartoons hold up today is a different conversation). Even 2 Stupid Dogs was a breath of fresh air when it aired in the middle of the renaissance era. But why does everything have to be that?

The current show had so much goofy annoying shit, the last thing the franchise needs is a goofier show.

I didn't watch much past season two but the last show appeared to be mainly aimed at 5-10 year olds.

In surprised that they don't aim the next show at a slightly older demographic, maybe 8-15 years old or something like that.
