NEW BF2 pics!

They better keep the chopper controls from Desert Combat, no dumbed down bullshit.

You're right, But i hope that wind effects are put in and i hope they wont mess up the controls like in BF Vietnam.
But i dont think that will happen since a part of the crew of Trauma works on this game.

How did the chopper control in DC end up? I only played it when it first came out and it was fucking impossible to control. Which is idiotic. This isn't a sim.

I don't know about that. Such controls certanily give you a lot of freedom to fly, but things like landing in a close space or even keeping it steady are extremely hard to do.

Ha, not much. I last upgraded my PC for Battlefield 1942, before then, it couldn't even run Carmageddon 2 without chugging.

Right now I'm got a GeForce ti4200, 1.8mhz Athlon, 768MB RAM or whatever it is... and uh, that's all I can remember. It can run Pirates fairly smoothly if that's any indicator.

LOL! Yeah, would definitely be upgrade time for sure for this game :)

Well it has not changed allot from version .5 where the HIND had gotten a big ass to move around, very annoying but true to its size.
I love the controls of choppers in DC but i really think that Black Hawk is a bit to slow in turning considering its size and dimensions in comparison to a HIND-24.

I'm gonna rain on the parade by reminding you all that the netcode will undoubtedly SUCK ASS BALLS.

But yes, the pictures are pretty. And I'll probably be first in line to buy the damn game.

Yes, but they're doable with a little practice, which is how it should be.

And are you gonna have dedicated servers with fat pipes that can handle tons of players without crippling it with unplayable lag?

...what? Plenty of gaming centers/cafes will have severs up on "fat" pipes to play this game on pc are you kidding me?

The thing is, even with lots of practice, landing in a small space, can take lots of time. I don't want that in BF2.

I agree. Its way too difficult in DC. They have to find a better balance. EOD mod had it done very well IMO.

Yeah, I find with patience you can learn to fly the DC helicopters quite well even with a keyboard/mouse. The key is to practice in single-player mode. I use a keyboard/mouse to fly and it feels very natural now.

Our ClanLeader can fly try almost every little street in Lost Village. He is a Flight sim freak. I can also do most off the small streets but some are even for me impossible.

But I can play with Key/Mouse and Joystick all no problem. And the Netcode Mister Zimbu sais. Well the makers from Desert Combat itself are making BF2. So dont worry about that.

We're not disagreeing. Somebody was making a statement about "but will the XBox 2/PS3 have ... like the PC will? And that was my response to that. That the PC will also have dedicated servers with fat pipes. (As opposed to what are the XBox2/PS3 gonna have? If it's anything like this generation, it's gonna suck ass and NOT be the BF that people love on the PC.)

Well, he is a flight simulator freak after all, practically every DC player is not.

They actually have very little input on the game.

The game looks awesome. DICE owns.

Oh yeah! Forgot that DICE was making this! No wonder it looks so hot.

And people please don't compare it to the Source engine but rather to HL2 (the game). From what I've seen Source is capable of per-pixel self shadows, it's just up in the air how much it will bog down any system. Perhaps when a new batch of vid cards are out there will be a patch to enable it. Kinda like how someone modded DOOM 3 to do the same (but it ran slow on many systems since it was so intensive).

I've seen some insane pilots in DC. You will be running down a street and a helicopter will pass right above you in the most narrow stretch possible.

Just amazing.

I know, it isn't too uncommon either. The controls have a fairly steep learning curve but once they're mastered you can do some great stuff. On one desert map with canyons I used to to keep low, pop up to attack any enemies in the area and then drop back down for cover from returning enemy fire.

In dc the planes are way to fast for the map u can like go across the map in 3 seconds so its very hard to do any bombing runs, I wonder if bf2 will have the same problem.

WOW @ that shot...looks almost photo realistic...

if you just browsed that pic real fast...you would think it was real.

Has anyone tried the new Point Of Existence mod for BFV? Its pretty cool. Modern weapons, a game I guess is very much like what BF2 will be. Or, at least it attempts to be so. Its more vehicle based then I would like, but 1 or 2 of the maps are infantry based. Mod is very smooth, and the sound is GREAT.

POE (For short) is for BF Vietnam what DC is for BF 1942. But even then i think they have looked to much to DC when making this mod. Thats not bad, only if they had looked at the chopper controls of DC to. Cuz they suck in POE. Well when i tried the first and second version of it anyway.
