Nope, they were like 800x600(or something) versions of these:

That little guy is my favorite. He will be my GamerTile. This I swear.

blinx guys are making it, the talented guys are designing it though.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the end product.

Looks cool, but isn'tr this being developed by the Blinx guys?

I don't see that being a problem... the biggest complaint about Blinx was the character design. The level design and gameplay were pretty good. My only complaint was that levels didn't get consistently more difficult. You would be progressing along in the levels and then hit a brick wall where the level of difficulty went from moderate to extremely difficult. Also... Blinx was a platformer. This is not.

Blinx stunk from every aspect including art to gameplay. I'm not certain what to think of this, other than this just reinforces my opinion that the 360 NEEDS more Japanese support. This is the only game that interests me other than Bioware and Gears at present. If it's good (like DQ or FF good), I'd buy the system just for the game though.

Interested to see this at E3, although it won't be available outside of Japan until 2007 at the earliest anyway, and maybe the 360 will be a more reasonable price by then.

no the biggest complaint was the level design. You could be progressing along in a level and run out of trash. And have to start all over again because you didnt have one trash can to beat the last big blubber monster in the stage.

Well, I disagree with you there. The reason that Blinx gets all of the laughs is because of the character and the thought that MS wanted that as a "mascot." I progressed pretty far into the game, and I don't recall being in any situations like that. I thought the level design was pretty good. It's hard to judge because it wasn't like the levels were that huge and the puzzle challenges were governed by the time aspect.

Even with all of the hate blinx receives on GAF, it still has an average above 70%. I'm just saying, don't dismiss BD because you didn't like Blinx. It is a totally different genre and obviously it is aesthetically improved.

Its a re-used style, unlike all the FFs and DQs and all the other RPGs that have 'good art' which are totally original e.v.e.r.y. time.

see?

So glad this isn't cel-shaded. I recently finished Tales of Symphonia and started on DQVIII. Playing all these cel-shaded RPGs makes me wish that if developers wanted a 2D hand drawn look they would just fucking make the game in 2D. The "claymation" style of Blue Dragon is interesting, I wonder how it animates. A slightly jerky stop-motion effect like real claymation might be cool (but quickly become annoying). Every time I see new pics of BD I start thinking about how sweet a new Earthbound in that style (like the clay models from the manual) would be.

Read DBZ or play DQ series.

thanks.
ALL JAPANIMATION LOOKS ALIKE

seriously, you are like one step away from it. A style is different than "all his stuff is the same." This is very obviously designed by Toriyama, but it is reused about as much as Kirby reused his Fantastic Four art for Avengers.
