Looks pretty good for a PC game, but not next gen worthy IMHO. I'll pick it for my computer, jerky animations aside it looks like a kickass game.

That's really cool.

Too dark. I wish devs would get over this phase.
Err, most games are not dark. Why does it matter if a few happen to be? Darkness is great for atmosphere (when handled properly). They tried removing the darkness from Silent Hill in The Room and it was a failure. The element of fear was totally missing from that game...

I have a shitty tv/monitor. I need to crank up the gamma to the point where it is 'even' with a decent tv. The end results are washed out games.

Plus moving around in games where you can only see a tiny radius of light and bumping into walls gives me incredible headache.

This is more like Silent Hill/ Deus Ex than your typical run'n'gun FPS, right?
Judging from what I've seen so far in the videos, the gameplay seems to be based more on exploration and possibly the collection and processing of forensic evidence. Most of the combat in the game seems to be melee with some firearms. Clearly this isn't going to be like Monolith's real "run'n'gun FPS" which is FEAR, since the players movement is also quite slow by FPS standards.

Err, that's not my problem. I have no issues with dark games on my displays and they most certainly don't give me a headache. They aren't that common. If you don't like them, don't play them.

You can still have dark creepy atmosphere without making the game look like it takes place in a power outage.

Deus EX was played entirely at night, yet I loved that game. System Shock 2, another dark game that I loved. It has nothing to do with technology, as F.E.A.R. looks to be another dark game with sources of light other than your flashlight, and I thoroughly enjoyed that demo.

Yeah, but I think darkness helps a LOT. The Silent Hill and Fatal Frame titles are all VERY dark and it makes for a pretty creepy atmosphere. I love being scared, but it takes a lot of work on your part to get that feeling (I wish more games could pull it off). I suppose it varies from person to person, but the inability to see what is around me adds a lot to the sense of fear. Whether it is due to the lack of lights or perhaps the bottomless depths of a deep ocean, if I can't see what lies ahead, but know something might be there, it adds a lot to the experience. Being able to clearly see what you are going up against generally destroys any tension for me. That's why Doom 3 failed in that area. When creatures were present, they were always after you. There was no build up or tension. You have a clear view of the creatures until they were dead. No sense of fear at all.

SS2 was pretty intense, though, but that's an exception and it WAS pretty dark. Deus Ex was not even slightly creepy nor was the FEAR demo. Remember, though, those are PC games. You complained about your TV sucking, not your PC monitor. I suppose a lot of these games really depend on your display. I use a CRT HDTV for my console gaming, so I can have completely dark blacks constrasting with light. I can't enjoy dark games on an LCD, though, simply because the black levels are destroyed. So, someone using such a display might feel the way you do.

I did said tv/monitor, plus this game is for PC (i think). :P As far as console games, I did not have a problem with the lighting in SH 2 or 4, I just did not like the gameplay very much.

I do like the tension of not knowing what is next, and I understand your position on the games. It may just be a medical condition, as I can not explain it in depth. I have problems with recognition, the less information I have to view, makes it even harder for me to recognize common objects. Since I play mainly PC games with a fast mouse look, I get headaches from dark games.
