Ah come on. Sure we all know it's not gonna be a great movie, but as far as video game movies go that looks pretty cool.
Did you all notice that they have covered up The Rock's shoulder tatoo with makeup? I was wondering when someone was gonna do that. Always thought it was odd that he would start his movie career and then get such a big tat.

The FPS parts look like those I saw in this one British film school project I have on VCD. It's called Inferno and the lead characters are "Trapped in a virtual world. Where the game becomes the reality... and the reality the game." I have no idea where I got the VCD from but it's a camp enough jaunt that I've watched it more than twice.
As for DOOM, it actually looks pretty cool as far as video game movies go. I'll probably end up seeing it. *shrug*

The fps scenes with the gun movement reminded me of the Killzone demo on PS3.

I've been reading some background info on this movie and it seems that a lot of the people who are involved in this know exactly what they're doing. I'm willing to bet that all corniness is probably meant to be corny. If they did like a popcorn flick of Doom, I think it'd be awesome. Just don't take itself seriously, have some fun with the material, and see where you end up. Could be neat.

The first-person stuff looked kinda akward, but maybe it'll turn out alright. I guess we'll just have to wait and see the movie. I kinda think the pinky demon looked too small though. In Doom 3 he's friggin' huge! Here he kinda looks like a big dog.
And for the record, I think those of you who are saying "it'll be campy and fun and that's what they were going for", that's fine and all, but I know I fall into a different crowd. I think Doom has all the resources to become one of the scariest freak-out horror movies of all time if handled correctly. Doom 3 proved that. I think people like me are just disappointed that the footage so far makes it look like the game is a much scarier experience than the movie will be, but I guess we all just need to wait until the movie hits to find out.

The fps scenes....ehhh not a very good idea. Looks so off and cheesy in live action, we're not really playing the characters so it's effect is greatly lessoned and they could have used a more shaky frantic over the shoulder look if they wanted to create more tension in a film.
