One of my DS gripes was the shitty stylus. Well, today a friend gave me a new one. Supposedly, these are gonna be like 20 bucks when they are given to retailers.

It's MUCH better. Better grip and overall feel. It just doesn't fit in the back of the DS. Small price to pay

Now all I need to do is return this DS for one without a dead cell. :|

Oh man, I am so getting this. The stylus that comes with the DS is awful, my fingers are in pain every time I use it for more than thirty minutes.

That thing looks so much more comfortable.

Is it that hard to go to an office supply or electronics store and get a stylus pen. $20 for a piece of branded plastic is ridiculous, when that same amount of money can get you something that's also a pen, laser pointer, or whatever.

I thought the purpose of the stylus was to be comfortable and not make your fingers collapse in on themselves because it's so horrifically designed.

They have nice sticks you can stick on top of the d-pad for the GBA too. They are more comfortable, but you can't close your GBASP anymore. Good idea?

Do the sticks help improve the comfort of the controls? Are the sticks removable so that when I'm done playing I can close the shell? Does getting this larger stylus prevent me from closing the shell?

The purpose of the stylus is to provide contact with a small portion of the screen without scratching the screen. They could've bundled it with something the size of a toothpick and it would've worked.

i guess it's just years of using PDAs, or maybe just practicality, but i don't see the problem with a stylus that doesn't fit in your device. With only four inches and the circumference of a coffee stirrer, there's not much room for improvement. A pen stylus won't fit in the DS, but it's much more usable and most are more functional. Sure, you could have telescopic styli (my PDA uses one), but it's still anorexic. It would be like using one of those pencils they have at bowling alleys to write with every day.

Right

I'm just joshing. I'd be quite happy with a nice stylus, but I can't really leave it lying around because of my son, who is likely to try and swallow it if it is loose.

Yeah, I can understand that perspective. Whatever works for you, obviously.

Personally, though, that stylus is mine. That one that was included with my DS was one of my main gripes, and so I'm happy there's an "official" alternative.
