New EGM rumors and more

In the new EGM, issue May 2005, there is a feature on upcoming Sony sequels for Holiday of this year. They are Jak X, which is a spin-off car combat game/racing game, Rachet: Deadlocked, which sees Ratchet take on a more mature look, complete with battle armor, sort of like Master Chief, and finally, Sly Cooper 3, which picks up where the last game left, and it even includes a multi-player mode, possibly even online. Finally, there is a rumor Sony will launch Killzone 2 this holiday as well, with a more robust online mode and certain issues have been addressed.

I already have a subscription, thanks. It just happens that it arrives at certain peoples homes earlier than others. Call it a "big news" preview.

Honestly, for some reason I get my issue at least 10 days after everyone on here first starts talking about it. I used to think I should black myself out of info until it arrived, but I decided I didn't want to wait a third of a month later than some more special folks out there.

Edit: I have no qualms about buying Rise of the Kasai on release day. I was disappointed in the Maximo Vs. Army of Zin scores, after loving Maximo, and loved that game as well. I'm sure everybody has God of War fever right now anyway. Not that I don't. :)
 
I can't believe that list with 5 Rare games in it..cripes. Especially since they put Perfect Dark on there. They're.. they're.. framerate whores!!! That's what they are.. ~cries~

Putting Banjo on there is ALMOST as bad.

It's impossible to look back on these types of games without severe bias (especially if comparing to newer games, like from this generation).. so I don't even know why they try.

It'll take me days to get over this Perfect Dark thing. Perfect Dark >>> Everything in this world (except GoldenEye, maybe Tetris DX, and cheese).
 
Just one more thing: While still being bitter about PD being on that list (yeah, from like 5 minutes ago when I saw it :) ), I'm already calling this one.. in like 5-10 years, EGM has another one of these lists out.. and GTA (most likely GTA: Vice City) is on it.. at least it should be.. heh.. well.. :lol Vice City does the least amount of new stuff out of the current generation GTA trilogy, but it was praised to the high heavens, probably because everyone loves Miami Vice or something.

Not that I dislike Vice City. Definitely a good game. :D

If Capcom doesn't dedicate ten games' worth of budget to the game, then Capcom still has a very stable franchise on their hands.

Nope. I remember seeing a 5 minute preview of the game on X-Play about a month ago and it looked damn near identical to Kri. How could they have screwed it up when it looks like it plays exactly the same? Very disheartening.

I think it's a mistake to be putting new installments of Ratchet, Jak and Sly on PS2 and none on PSP. Something like Jak X could have stood out on PSP, but it's hard for even diehard Naughty Dog/Insomniac fans to muster interest in the 4th PS2 installment.

Sly would be the only one I think would stand a better shot at selling better on the PSP than the PS2. I think there's alot of people that's been waiting for another Naughty Dog racer since CTR came out. Ratchet should do fine also. Sly's's really the only one that doesn't really have that much of a following on the PS2, so it'd likely be better suited for the PSP.
 
I hate to be a spoilsport here... but like who exactly do the Ratchet and Jak games sell to? I hardly ever see any posts dedicated to them on the boards, nor do I know anybody who really actively plays them. Played a demo for I think the latest Ratchet and came off unimpressed, but then again I'm not really the 3D platformer type.

these boards aren't really sony friendly. I suggest you go to gamefaqs, neo seeker, or ign forums if you want to talk to the fans. I am playing Sly 2 right now. And I believe all three games have sold well in the past. Therefore your opinion is worthless. :p

The Ratchet games are actually quite popular here and get a decen tamount of topics when the release is upcoming and when the games are finnaly released. Jak isn't nearly as popular on these forums, but it sells better than Ratchet.

WTF @ Perfect Dark being overrated. Back in the day PD was hyped by EGM more then anyone else and when they reviewed it they called it better then Goldeneye(which I agree with personally).

DK 64 and KI I can agree with, but DKC? That is in my Top 20 games of all time. I feel in love with the DKC series.
