FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows Official BenchMark

Official benchmark software displays actual maps and characters, and allows you to check your PC's score for actual play of FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows.

subtit04.gif

When you start the official benchmark software, a score is displayed every time map makes full cycle. You can tell your computer's specifications by this score.
The meaning of various score values are explained below. However, this indicator is only for reference and does not guarantee that your system will run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows.
Before downloading or using the official benchmark software, please read and agree to the Software License Agreement.

Note: The following scores are for low-resolution mode.

Cannot run - 999: "Too Weak" PC
Unfortunately, we assume that the specifications of your computer do not meet requirements to run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows. If you have this score even though your computer meets the minimum system requirements, please adjust the software resident on your PC.
If your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements, please consider upgrading your machine.

1000 to 1499: "Easy Prey" PC
We assume that your computer can run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows.
However, your frame rate may drop when in a party with lots of effects or in crowded cities.
You should set the game settings (such as resolution and texture) as low as possible.
In addition, if these symptoms bother you, you may consider upgrading your computer (such as increasing the amount of memory or upgrading your graphics card, etc).

1500 to 1999: "Decent Challenge" PC
We assume that your computer can easily run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows with the default settings. If the frame rate bothers you when you run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows, you may change the game settings (resolution or texture settings, etc) or adjust the display of weather effects.

2000 to 2499: "Even Match" PC
We assume that your computer can run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows enjoyably with the default settings. You should be able to play easily with weather effects on.

2500 to 2999: "Tough" PC
We assume that your computer can run FINAL FANTASY XI for Windows enjoyably with the default settings. Trust me, just find 5 other dedicated players. Find a nice balance of jobs between the 6 of you and do the Promyvions alone. Don't bother going in huge alliances.

Then just solid snake past everything in a tight formation, and take the memory receptical battles very slow, taking out and isolating strays one by one.

Then prepare for the BCNM's with the required items (echo drops, poison potions (for Holla BCNM), holy water, hi-potions, etc).

Be prepared to invest some gil into these. Then once you beat them, sell off all your level 30 gear and buy 40 gear for PM2-3.

Heh, I actually got 2037 with my crappy computer. Was expecting something below 1500. But damn, some parts looked very choppy. Like 1 fps choppy. :p

The tarutarus on the chocobos are cute as all hell. And my work computer ranks on the high end of VERY TOUGH~!

I ran this a couple of days ago, same old score of 1500ish. The game runs alright on my computer normally, though it runs quite well with all the unnecessary effects taken out.

Anywho, the reason I downloaded it though was for the demo cutscene thing. Very cool, I didn't get to play the Zilart missions, but there weren't a lot of action oriented cutscenes that I can remember before that. Very cool. Oh, and I mustn't forget to mention Bahamut. :p

So you got 1500...and you have actually played the game? How does the framerate hold up in the game? And is it possible to switch on some details and effects and still maintain a decent framerate on your computer? And what are your specs?

Let's see...

800 Mhz AMD Athlon
448MB RAM
ATI Radeon 7500
15 GB HDD
Windows XP

So yeah, a bunch of crap. :p I can't get you numbers for the framerate, but in areas where there are few people it's a very smooth and fast speed, no hiccups or anything. In areas that are busy (Crawler's Nest, Kazham) it got from just a little slowdown, to a slideshow depending on how much action was going on and how close everyone was. But, I gotta say, after that one update that did allow for you turn off battle effects, spells, monster effects, etc from other parties that you don't need to see. Everything was pretty smooth most of the time. Though it would still get a little choppy in really really crowded areas, but it wasn't unplayable at all. I even ran the game at 1024x768 and kept weather effects on (Had I turned them off I think it would have ran even better, but it wasn't necessary).

You got over 2000? I don't think you should worry, especially if you mess around with the setting you may never see any stutter at all. Very little in super crowded areas at the most. I really think Kazham and Crawler's Nest (two very overcrowded, and not required, fighting spots) are the only places you'll run into problems, if any. And maybe certain events that draw crowds.

I ran this a couple days ago (got it from GS). I did not know what the score meant. Can the scores be used for all 3 benches?

Cool, thanks a lot! I'm tempted to pick up the game now... :)
