New Game Boy - not a portable GameCube?

Oh, Jesus H. Christ riding a unicycle.

How about this quote. Quoted in its entirety. Not out of context.

"The new Game Boy will be based around existing Nintendo GameCube hardware and will be, when it launches in the US and Japan towards the end of this year, the most powerful handheld console on the planet."

That's another "true fact" in the story.

Or how about this one?

"The [DS] will evolve from a pure gaming machine into a PDA equipped to play Nintendo 64 quality games."

How many times do I have to do this, anyway? The story was filled with inaccuracies stated as fact, not "analysis." The fact that the insider tidbits the story was based around are true doesn't change the fact that the story went off in what even Spong now says was the complete wrong direction.

Haters / doubters - just STFU, the newer report was based on newer information -- you may all look a tad silly come E3.

Like how Spong looked silly after that whole V-Pocket/PalmOS thing?

If you weren't so busy being bitches, you might realise there is a very interesting clue in the article, about something.

AWESOME. So now Spong is Where's Waldo; somewhere in the mess of brown-suited nonsense there's a hidden clue for me to find?

Again I ask: this is news?

No. What Folder is doing is

1) Hearing some industry buzz that may or may not be true (new portable at E3, DS productivity apps);

Wrong. The source for all of this has been Nintendo internal. Several user here can confirm this.

2) Writing a news story that covers the actual facts, if you will, in great sticky gobbets of incorrect analysis that is rarely if ever marked as such (PSP killer, encased on the show floor, plays GC discs, DS biggest climb-down in history)

3) Totally revising all this as additional details come out a little over a week before the press conference (not a PSP killer, playable at the show, no GC discs, no DS climb-down);

The story has evolved over time. What can I do? We have been working with the information that has been available at times of press.

4) Pretending the first article never happened; then (later)

Not at all. It's an update.

5) Basking in the glow of admirers who think Spong is "vindicated" when they finally run the right story once it's no longer a secret.

I don't understand this. How is it no longer a secret?

Here's the clip:

There will be a new Game Boy shown at Nintendo's conference this year
It will be playable on the showfloor
The DS will be pitched at a new audience

I think the story is valid and it's this news I will stand by. This entire thread is simply pre-emptive damage controll from SPOnG haters. And it's boring.

You manage to derail an important discussion about new Nintendo hardware being shown next week in an attempt to undermine the source.

Like I said, There will be a new Game Boy shown at Nintendo's conference this year that will be playable on the showfloor of E3.
