When is this baby out?

I like how they capture the effect of the setting sun glancing off the raised edges of the sand dune in the first pic.

Lack of more telling signs of deeper physical interaction between the cars and environment is a bit of a downer though.

How come 4:3?

Was wondering the same thing. Only thing off is the sand. lacks proper deformation and self shadowing, although I'll reserve judgement until I see a video. The lighting looks muted and lacks oomph.

The devs are working on PC so far. I don't know if they even have a 360 devkit as of now. They have a very small budget and I doubt they could afford it without a publisher.
I should meet these guys in a few weeks, hopefully I'll have some interesting footage too.

Blim, please ask them about terrain deformation and particle effects. If they nail those, it will set them apart from every other off road game, graphically.

I don't want to have to wait for Motorstorm to get it.

I'm of two minds here.. on the one hand I'm liking the attention to detail of the environmental look, I'm liking the different lighting, etc... but on the other hand... some of these shots just look.. "off" I can't quite figure out why though...

I hope they find a good publisher. You can definitely see the potential of the game, but I doubt any small developer can pull off something as complex as an open terrain off-road game. Dice did a great job with RSC2, but that was a closed track system... Rainbow has been able to do some great open terrain stuff, but they got over 10 years experience and none of their stuff looks this good.

The harder parts of the game will take some serious coding. Like getting accurate tire tracks in sand or getting the grass to lay over when you drive over it. Also, it would be cool to see the sand drifting.

The console does put out a nice image. I hope we'll be seeing this sort of image quality with PS3 but I have my doubts.

For me it's cause it looks like they took pics of a seperate game and just pasted the cars over them. The scenery reminds me of a cartoon styled RPG done nextgen (Breath of Fire vibe here) and they just tossed some cars on them.

It's the sand.

Has a tapioca look to it.

Not only that but I get this disconnect between the foreground and background when I look at these pics... It's like each photo is hill and vehicle in foreground... large drop off.. disconnected hill in background... and um... some of these desert hills seem to have a shitload of plant life...

PS2 already does 'huge terrain' well with ATV etc.

Just bring us Rallisport 3 on 360, and anything by evolution (BTW, are evolution owned by Sony,or just paid to do the WRC stuff by them?)

I've seen the videos on Blim's site and it looks pretty good. With a lot of people online it could be good fun driving around those huge environments.

Not owned by just in an exclusive agreement - 2nd party.
