New GTA5 patch improves controls and fixes tree animation

Wow, considering how fast they fixed this after we started making noise, has Sony's certification process for patches changed or something ? Because in the old days of the PS3, it would have taken weeks or a month before Rockstar could have released this patch.

Don't flatter yourself I'm sure they've been working on this for some time now. ;-)

Does anyone know if they fixed the (lack of) sea foam?

As much as the trees made the wilderness look static, the lack of sea foam makes the oceans look lifeless to me.

"Wow 900P 30FPS? How dare they! It should be 1080P, clearly these are lazy devs."

"Wow it runs at 1080P 60FPS? They should downgrade the framerate so we can get better visuals!"

"Wow it's not available on Playstation Plus? Well I'll wait until I can get it for free from Playstation Plus!"

etc.

now thats what i call trying hard.
well done!

I don't understand what people mean by this. Is this what people are talking about?

Because I definitely have that in my game on PS4. It's a dynamic, animated effect, so it obviously isn't always present. Just last night I did the mission where I stole the submarine, and I surfaced while out at sea and had that foam following all the waves as they crested and moved past.

I really need to dive into this because Sony refunded me on Drive Club and i just saved the money in my wallet to buy this.

Wanted to wait for PC version but i keep hearing it's fantastic on PS4/X1 and the only problem was the controls.

That's what I'm talking about, but it just looks flat on PS4 in comparison to the 360 version. There also seems to be a lot less of it when the waves crest and crash down on the surface. It just looks like a flat texture added to the top of the water surface.

Nice updates. Now I wish they add more unique cars and apartments/homes.

I have 6.1 million and I just introduced online missions to my fiancee so I'm hoping to have 7million before next year and I would like to be able to use it on some things.

Now patch the fps drops on PS4. This is a decent start though.

I don't get this.. what frame issues. Driving has been silky smooth on ps4 to me. Only place I seen this mentioned was on system wars type fan boy threads where they said ps4 had issues with a few frames in driving in traffic where x1 had issues with lack or foliage and frame drops during gunplay.

Personally I think, the Internet , and fan boys in particular egg this stuff on, and make it much more than it really is. All people in the real world that have played the game l, that I know never mention this stuff. Usually I see it with people who have an agenda.. either rooting for a particular console or downplaying consoles in favor of pc.

Personally I usually never notice frame drops unless it gets to the sub 20 range and it needs to be there for a while. Hell I remember playing and beating Crysis 1 with 17-22 fps on a 8800gts card and loved every minute. Pumping the eye candy up to max. Personally, I will trade in a few fps any day for better visuals, AA, and higher resolution... as long as it doesn't noticeably chug it's fine by me.

The only time a frame or two of drops really matter is fast paced arena games like Quake, or fighting games where one frame in lag can mean life or death, and even then it's usually from the net code not the games frame rate.

Nobody cares what you personally notice or not. Stop applying your standards to others.

Great to hear, the "deadzone" in Dead Space PC drives me nuts, I'm not sure why some devs try to overcompensate for deadzones. Also just nice they're responding to complaints.

Wow, there are framedrops every time you drive through the city during daylight. Just because YOU don't notice/have low standards, doesn't mean it's not an issue.

Man. People in this thread are getting pissed at each other real quickly.

I've noticed a few frame drops in traffic. Nothing game-breaking by any stretch for my personal experience though.

Frame rate is hugely important for me and this is why I game on PC.
oh btw, you humans need to stop arguing amongst yourselves so much

I plan to get a PS4 soon and I'm considering GTA5 for co-op with my bro. But I want to know what I'm getting into by going back to consoles and what has so far been an exasperating "next gen experience" with games actually dropping from what should be a standard 30fps. I've been watching videos and GTA5 definitely drops. Its much better than the smeared shitshow last gen versions (I played through both PS3 and 360) but it shouldn't even be doing this. Small dips are tolerable but I don't know what its like when actually playing.

So what control settings do you guys use and where are your sliders at?

After messing around with the settings earlier today, I use the following settings:

. Look around sensitivity - Max.
. Aiming sensitivity - Two notches under halfway.
. Dead-zone - Minimum.
. Acceleration - Two notches under max.

Same settings for both first-person and third. The shooting in third-person is so much better also, this update hasn't only benefited first-person controls. Aiming down the sights in first-person can still be a little tricky because of the way the camera moves when you're walking around, but clicking the right stick in so that you bring the gun down to face/neck-level makes it very easy to get head-shots now.

I know. :(

It's not too bad on the motorbikes, but cars feel way too claustrophobic for me in FPV. I have to drive them in third-person.

Well it's better on bikes but it doesn't feel like it's real. I think it's better to have FPV where you can see like in real life, not like you're using a 50mm camera lens.

Good patch though. You don't see that many console games with that much controls settings.

Nice of R* to respond to the feedback so quickly, you da bess.

More games should have customizable control settings, especially Ubisoft games have had dreadfully big deadzones... I couldnt play more than 30 minutes of Far Cry 2 on PS3 because of the humongous deadzone.

I still hope they add an option to make helmets more transparent. Not digging the very tinted look of the game when wearing one. I get realism arguments, but I want that aspect to be more for the benefit of playing the game and tinted TV detracts from that.

I already sold the game because of the controls. Is it like Good FPS controls (when in FP of course) ? Or is still the laggy jerky kind of movement just more refined?

ohhhh so u love to joke about consoles users but when the ball its on you court things change...lol i have a gaming pc too fella, but your comment was abrasive to console users

I have already mentioned that I wasn't really serious about that little jab (that is more directed at R* than anything else for taking their sweet time with the PC version). And if anyone really takes it seriously, then they better loosen up a little.

Still not as good as any FPS game like COD or Killzone, but it's better.

I know they look dorky as heck, but go for the scooter helmets that are just a bare bones helmet, no visor, no lower portion to it. Just enough there to protect your dome. Never have a tint while wearing a helmet again!

...until you change it..

Before this patch, if you moved the camera around and started walking, the camera would auto-center. Now, you can walk around while the camera stays where you want it to.

Now all they need to do is let us turn it off for every view.

Can't you already do it in third person? Pretty sure you can by holding the right analog the way you want..

Could you please stop with that bullshit?

Nope. You could stop taking it so seriously instead. I have now edited it to clarify it wasn't serious and if that isn't enough you should just step outside for a moment. Could probably use some fresh air to clear your head.

Rockstar and CDprojekt continue to prove why they are the best developers around. All their millions are well earned and I'll gladly giving them more money.

Thank you Rockstar.

Tell me about it, DS1 on PC has the stupidest deadzone ever implemented into a game, i got through it though, but what a wonky mess.
