ugly! What do people see in this game?

Oh come on, the environments and the chopper look great for a PSP game. You should just not expect too much, a simple shooter with probably great humor (something Planetmoon games share).

Let's stop making excuses for not so great looking PSP games. The system is an extremely capable piece of hardware.

Agreed.

I mean, there are games on the current consoles that are just barely above PSX or N64 level...yet you'd never judge the abilities of those platforms based on games like that. Not every game has to be a technical marvel...

I think both of you need to stfu! The game looks terrible and the art is hideous. Bring on Zero Hour and Syphon Filter.

(this post is not a personal attack)

Sorry, but this game looks good graphically. Not only that, but it has a unique style and a funny premise. I'm going to check this out.

BAD ART.

I've never seen a game look so good and at the same time so bad on a portable. It's like Brute Force on the PSP or something.

I definitely like it, and knowing Planet Moon it will probably be a heck of a game. This looks better than most PSP games, don't let the upscaled images fool you (their original size is 480x272, here upscaled to 640x363 resulting in more jaggies)

Look what SCEA did to Twisted Metal.
What? TM looks pretty crappy on PSP...

Zero Hour

Game looks better than this crap.

I expect the Syphon Filter PSP to look much better than these two though! Look what SCEA did to Twisted Metal.
With all due respect, the Zero Hour footage is from how long ago? I think before anyone really had dev kits for the PSP, so its a little suspect as to exactly what hardware footprint that footage was coming from. And TM:HO looks fine and all, but I don't see how it looks significantly better than this.

Don't like the 'art', fair enough.

This game looks stupid and has that ultra-retarded "viral" feature that spreads your name across other players' PSPs. Also, it looks like a light gun game without a light gun. Who cares?

The pic with the chopper is "fake" though. It's not how the actual game looks when running on a PSP.

WTF? Have you actually seen it on PSP?
I looks very good!
Quoted for emphasis. :) Don't bash it until you see it. The pics released so far are kind of lame -- it looks so much better in motion.

I don't know, this doesn't look too bad when you consider that it'll be much smaller than that on the actual PSP screen. Technically at least, the art direction on the other hand is a different matter entirely, not quite up to what I was expecting from Planet Moon. Still a game I'm interested in.

this screen in particular isn't too bad.

Infected looks kinda average to me right now. But if the release is still six months off, it could very well improve, and I've come to learn that PSP games almost always look better in motion then they do in screen shots, so I'll reserve judgement until it releases.

Not bad but it sort of looks like a highrez PSone game. The textures on that vehicle looks pretty bad, they didn't even bother modelling the ridges on the tires.

as for Infected.

Looks like a Dreamcast game.

It looks better than Twisted Metal Black on PS2.

Here's what a Paris level looked like in the PSone version of TM

?

seriously. Look at the models. Fairly low/mid-poly. But the textures are what makes it look better. If the PSONE can handle as good textures and all the graphic trickery (like FSAA) that OBVIOUSLY PSP can handle, I'm sure the result will be close.

Here better screens from late gen TM(3). Because 1st gen PSONE titles all look GODDAMN AWFUL

I think you are blind or something.

The effects (smoke, fire etc) in Twisted Metal Head On are taken straight from Twisted Metal Black PS2. This doesn't not look like a PSX title. It was also developed on PS2 first then moved to PSP.

It looks better than Twisted Metal Black!

This Dreamcast bashing has to stop!!!! By the way, you play Code Veronica in VGA and you tell me how well it holds up today...

I just checked out the Wipeout Pure vids over at PSP.IGN (from CES2004) .. hmm whats with the poor frame rate? You think they will able to fix those horrible hickups?

The game is 30fps, at least get it stable! Any word about the fps from a newer build?

I'm not exactly sure what could be qualified as 'bad' about textures in TM:HO. They're not ultra high-res but they are clean and on par with what Incognito did texturing wise for TM:Black. And there are a number of PS2 games that don't bother to model ridges on tires.

TM:HO is going to be the must have multiplayer launch title. Once people realize it's a throwback to the old series with awesome effects and updated graphics, it will be hard to find.
