Here we go again. Looks very weird! Maybe it's fun though? Can't wait for reviews on this one.

Here is IGN thoughts.

IGN said:
January 27, 2005 - Capcom's uber insane psycho-thriller Killer 7 is nearly complete and gearing up for its March 24 release on both GameCube and PlayStation 2 in Japan. The title will debut on Nintendo's platform in the US this June. To celebrate the arrival of the off-the-wall adventure game, Capcom has served up 15 fresh screenshots and a disturbing new three-minute-plus trailer of Killer 7 in motion.

Killer 7 invites players to become Harmon Smith, an old, wheel chair-bound assassin who also happens to be a schizophrenic. The difference between Smith and other schizophrenics is that he possesses the unique ability to conjure up his personalities in physical form, each an admirable hunter for different reasons. The stylized, cel-shaded adventure game challenges players to use all seven of Smith's alter-egos to destroy a terrorist organization called Heaven Smile, which has unleashed armies of zombie-like beings that explode when they come into contact with humans. The adult-themed title engulfs gamers in a virtual world filled with psychedelic imagery, violent and sexual subject matter, and extreme over-the-top gore.

Readers can click here for the new screenshots of Killer 7, which show off a variety of unnervingly bizarre scenarios. For instance, there are images of indescribable snake-like enemies that roll into ball form when attacked, noir-style interrogation rooms and colorful Japanese bridges saturated with rain.

But the screens are nothing compared to the new trailer, which is sure to frighten children and drive drug addicts everywhere instantly mad. The updated footage plays like a credits scene from a David Fincher movie, flashing intriguing snippets of in-game sequences like character-based third-person exploration and first-person shooting to mind-bogglingly weird cinematics. For instance, contained within the three-plus-minute trailer are story-driven scenarios featuring assassins running through dreamlike worlds, exploding spidery and alien-esque beings, fighting creatures out of a Lord of the Rings movie and even dropping F-bombs.

As has become the norm with any new media released for Killer 7, viewers will likely find themselves dazzled by the style and intrigued by what's to come, and yet absolutely none the wiser as to what the game is really all about.

WOW. That was awesome. It's like a fucked up Animatrix episode or other cool styled anime. Too bad the gameplay looks like it consists of choosing which way to have your character run too and then static shooting parts. I'll definatly rent it for a drunk play.

Does he say "fuck you" before shooting that ...thing? Wacky. So wacky and bizarrely beautiful that I can pretty much guarantee I'm buying it even if it's a 60's/pastel/mushroom trip duck hunt. Maybe especially then.

Yea, there are at least two instances of the F-word in that trailer.

The game looks like a neat experiment. Well see if it succeeds in 2 months...

I'm definitely getting this but I can't decide which version to get :(

This shouldn't be a question if you own both systems. Development platform was the GC, thus it's 99.9% likely the GC one will be slightly superior (or at worst identical) like the Viewtiful Joe games have shown. Plus GC has Wavebird.

Only negative would be if the GC version was censored like RE4, but I think the violence is cartoony enough to not have to worry about it.

This is exactly what I'm worried about. If they censored it, I'd be gutted. Other than that, it's a definite GC purchase, as you say.

:lol at the character telling the enemey to "fuck off" as he kills him.

I've always been intrigued with this game ever since it was announced. It might be the weirdest looking game I've ever seen in my life, but also one of the coolest.

The GameCube version won't be censored, Nintendo doesn't interfere with game content anymore (they leave that to the ratings board, that's why the GCN version of BMX XXX surprisingly had all the full frontal nudity and the PS2 version did not), so Capcom would have to censor it. The Japanese GCN/PS2 versions might get censored though.

after RE4, i have little doubt that Mikami would dissappoint with this project. He must have a hell of a lot of faith in Suda 51 if he's come this far with almost nothing known publically. It's interesting how this trailer is set up as a movie preview too, and i wonder if that may be a hint towards the style of gameplay. At the very least it looks like it would be fun.

this confuses me. it was in the other thread with this too, but i don't get it. We know its Gamecube in US, GC/PS2 in Japan, but is it PS2 only for PAL release? That seems like a really wierd distribution setup if it is.

Yup I believe GCN-only in North America while PS2-only in Europe, while Japan gets a multi-console release.

Really weird, but then again, so is the game.

it is still very strange to me that there has not been ONE piece of news about the actual gameplay of this game, other than the obvious "first person shoot the creepy dudes" stuff. E3 (for what the 3rd year now?) can't come soon enough i think.

Play.com and Game.com have both versions. It's just the cover was only shown for PS2 so far.

Gameplay observation from the IGN movie... in the "first person" action modes, your weapon depends on your character (obviously), but you also appear to use special moves. I like the one called "All you need is blood". Ultraviolence ahoy.

What a shift in opinions... everyone was hating this like crazy till now. I'm still looking towards it, but if it sucks, I won't be that surprised.

But I said it before, and I'll say it again: best looking presentation of a game map ever.

Actually people were really enthused over the last trailer too (which is better than this most recent one).

But what ends up happening if GAF amnesia syndrome, a new batch of screens will come out, and the game doesn't look as good in stills and people start to crap on it. Then they see it motion and suddenly "get it".

I think everybody lost their hype when we saw some "gameplay" footage. If all we do is aim and shoot (with no actual movement just picking directions) that's not much of a "game." More like a choose your own adventure movie with occasion aiming.

Put this down as my "i don't care how it plays, i just wanna gawk at the graphics and watch the story unfold" game. That's been my stance ever since the first video, where Dan blows away a nun. This last video, like the rest, is a complete mindfuck and simply sex. Angelie fucking Jolie sex at that.

What I'm wondering is not about the gameplay, but about the challenge.

In all those videos you don't see any trace of challenge. All you do is shoot some super-slow enemies who die with a single shot. What gives? There must be so frigging much stuff not releaved about this game.

At least I hope it does, or else it will be an "all style, non substance" kind of game.

The enemies don't die with a single shot at all. They are very strong, like bosses in the House of the Dead games. There was a playable flash demo on the official site a while ago, and it seemed pretty good. I can't remember the last time a Capcom game was easy, so I don't imagine this will be either. There'll probably be a choice of difficulty levels too.
