Nah, I've noticed Nintendo can't let go of Super Mario Sunshine. Petey Pirahna is a secret characters in every game, Mario Tennis has a Sunshine course, and whenever Mario needs to be represented, they always stick a shine in there, rather than a star [Like Mario Baseball].

Their best use of the Mario Sunshine series however is

That thing was actually licensed? If it was released by Hudson Soft and includes a Nintendo copyright (which wasn't some joker's addition) seems it'd have to be, but I'd never heard of that before.
