New MelFes(Tales of) screen

I just watched the first OVA of Tales of Phantasia.. OMG.... I want to play Symphonia again... and I want a sequel... Please Namco... :_| ...

Still no platform announced? This new screen shot sort of kills Magicbox's PSP speculation... I'm guessing it's either PS2 or PS2/GC multiplatform. Likely this is what happened to Tales of Legendia.

It's PSP...
Not going by the only official screen. The PSP rumor was only due to the widescreen format of the trailer... but the game screen Namco gave ensures it's a console game going by the aspect ratio. PS2 is guaranteed imo, GC possible, PSP isn't happeneing. Which sucks, because I'd actually buy it then. :/

Tales of Legendia hasn't existed to any second. It was just a friggin fanboy wish.

It was actually part of a multigame rumor... half of which already came true. Fanboi.

I'm guessing the game was switched from GC to PS2 after Symphonia came 150k shy of targets in Japan (though bigger than expected western sales may mean Project Melfes might still be coming to GC too). Right now I'd say Xbox is the only platform we can be certain about Melfes not hitting.

The rumor was Tales of Truthia for PS2, Tales of Legendia for Cube and Tales of Phandom 2 for PSone. Not one of these games came true or were part of Namco's registering of several Tales of names. Just because Tales of Rebirth was announced shortly after it doesn't mean a part of the rumor came true, it was just the next expected move in the series. (and Rebirth was one of fresh trademarks registered by Namco)

Does anyone know what platform Melfes (or Rebirth) will be released for?

Rebirth is PS2, and probably Japan only.

Melfes we don't yet know. Most likely a console, not a handheld, and probably PS2 as well.

The rumor was actually a new 2D Tales for PS2, a new 3D Tales for GC, a new Tales of Fandom for PS1/PS2 and a new Tales for GBA. The titles of which were never given, those titles came from seperate trademarks Namco registered. We got a new 2D PS2 Tales (Rebirth) and a new GBA Tales (Narikiri Dungeon 3) already... it's likely Project Melfes is what became of the new 3D Tales, and likely it started life as a GC project. And no, those aren't fanboy fantasies.

Before the rumor, it was expected the Tales franchise on consoles would move to 3D only (as that's what Wolfteam/Tales Studio had implied).

What are the chances of this game coming to US? Not likely, right?
All imho...

Destiny 2: no chance
Rebirth: no chance
Phantasia GBA: slim chance
Symphonia PS2: good chance
Eternia PSP: good chance
Melfes: guaranteed

Who knows. I vote its either GC/PS2/PSP. Hopefully on a console. DS is out of the question.

Let's use proper common sense and deduction skills.

It's clearly a PlayStation game. It was bundled with a PS2 game, not a Gamecube or Xbox game. Why would they bundle it on the PS2 if it was slated for a different companies product?

So it's either PlayStation 2 or PlayStation Portable. Given the graphics although very nice do not look like they are pushing the PS2, thus it's more likely a PSP game.

well what other recently released game would it have made sense to have the trailer with? there havent been ANY namco Xbox releases in japan recently, and few if any gamecube games. so a tales game would make the most sense to release a trailer for a new tales game with.

Damn! I just saw again the ending of Symphonia... I need a new 3D Tales... :D

Because it could be multiplatform....

I dunno... think you're really up to that?

Namco's targeting the Tales fanbase though (this DVD was a limited preorder item), not the PS2 base specifically. They've used cross platform advertising before, even with Tales games. No platform being mentioned makes things a little suspicous at least and not nearly as clear cut as you're assuming.

Your deduction being so hardlined, I'm surprised you'd include PSP. Well.... maybe not. ;)

PS2 choked pretty hard on Symphonia and these environments look on par with that. No Tales game has ever really "pushed" hardware except possibly the first.

Unless it's got big black borders, it isn't PSP. Simple common sense/deduction skills and whatnot. Guess you actually weren't up to the task...
