OK, not the digital comic MGS BD, not Acid
I just get the latest issue Famitsu
and Kojima is really developing a new MGS title for PSP
Kojima only reveals the name "MGS" for PSP to Famitsu ,
but he is not willing to reveal anymore

A port of Twin Snakes? :P

:( That's not funny.

I really don't want it to be a typical MGS stealth game. Make it a sidestory of sorts and make it more action oriented or something. Playing a real MGS game on the PSP would be pretty bad with the lack of buttons.

nice, I really hope it's a truely new MGS game! (no ports)
But then again, Kojima doesn't really like ports/remakes.

edit:
Yeah, lack of buttons and also the lack of analog buttons.
But the d-pad could be used for selecting items and weapons.

Kojima always talks and talks about how his current MGS is the last in the series and that all effort will be put into it. At least that is what Konami, the media and hype always says.

And yet as soon as the game gets released they start hyping up the "enhanced" (patched) version of the game, and at the same time announces a bunch of games not even part of the real storyline.

Last year saw what, 3 games released in the series. And now there is 5 coming.
7 with substinence

Fucking stop whoring Konami.
As long as they retain the quality, and keep them unique, I'm all for more Metal Gear. There's a big difference between a sequel and a rehash.

I kind of agree and disagree. I actually wouldn't mind a new, full fledged MGS on the PSP that actually put more emphasis on stealth, and maybe made the action a bit more simplistic to compensate.

And on the other hand, I would fucking love to have Metal Gear: The Boss, with a very different approach to the MGS formula, a lot of emphasis on action, and yet retaining all of the awesome production values as the traditional MGS titles.

I don't know, there are certain things you expect in the series now, like the FPS mode. I guess they could change it up a bit so that it would work. But a MGS game in its current form wouldn't work too well I don't think.

Let this be a Raiden sidestory, save the The Boss' game for the PS3. :) They'll have a war engine in place with MGS4's too so it works out right.

One thing is for sure: It will look damn stunning technically (assuming it's not a port)... After MGA and MGA2, Kojima Productions must have a pretty good grasp of PSP hardware.

Shit, I've changed my mind. Now that I think about it, you're right, Boss' game would be fucking incredible for the PS3, with MGS4's engine. Considering how MGS4's engine is being built for war, man, I could only imagine what they could do with Boss' story. :)

Yeah, I would actually be all for MGS: Raiden for the PSP. I think it could really make for a fantastic game. If they could get the MGS2 engine going solidly on the PSP (of course with considerable thought put into how Raiden's game would play), I would love to have a game bridge the gap from MGS2 Raiden, to the badass that will no doubt be making a big splash in MGS4. :) I think it could actually work very similarly to how MGS3 was in large part about experiencing Big Boss' journey, as he became the legend we knew from the previous games.

I really like these ideas about games revolving around The Boss and Raiden.

I would also enjoy seeing some type of game based on Liquid's backstory. I mean, we saw what Snake did before MGS, how about Liquid? He's my favorite villian ever.

Hell, even a game based upon what Ocelot did from MGS3 to MGS would be fantastic for me.

As long as it is a NEW MG game, I am pleased no matter what. I was one of the ones that loved MG:A, once I got a handle on how it played.

New MG game makes me :D in any event. Can't wait!

Raiden's story could actually be about a war too. When he was a kid, Solidus put him in a war in some child platoon which is where he got the White Devil name because of how often he killed people.

Both Liquid and Ocelot are great choices also. They could even do a Metal Gear Otacon and make the first step mom dating sim. :P

hehehe, a story about Raiden's childhood where he was all badass killing people would be awesome

Fuck Raiden...According to Kojima, MGS4 will be an all purpose about how Raiden is cool...Why not release a Raiden game after MGS4 ?

I am much more interested in The Boss and LIquid as characters... I want to know what happens with the Boss to make him starr the Outer Heaven incident or the missions LIquid does before Shadow Mosses :)

Please let there be naked Raiden in MGS4 Please let there be naked Raiden in MGS4 Please let there be naked Raiden in MGS4 Please let there be naked Raiden in MGS4 Please let there be naked Raiden in MGS4 Please let there be naked Raiden in MGS4 Please let there be naked Raiden in MGS4

I don't really know if this will be making Raiden cool or not since it is him as a kid and we've already seen him grown up and he isn't like that (atleast not in MGS2). But Kojima and his staff do seem to like Raiden alot, moreso than most players do. So I think they're going to start wanting to give him more limelight.

I'm more interested in The Boss also, but I just prefer her game to be on the PS3. With it being on the PS3 it'd get a big budget as the game deserves.

I was thinking more along the lines of Raiden's game being his story from MGS2 to MGS4, and his rise to badassness that I think we can assume he'll be embodying in MGS4. :) I'm not too interested in how he got to where he was in MGS2, and I'm sure that that could be further fleshed out in a different sidestory, if they wanted.

Hahaha - nice tag. :lol

With that out of the way - let me comment on this news:

Bu, bu, bu PSP isn't selling well in Japan - no way they'll develop big Japanese franchises for it! No Square games, no Metal Gear Solids, no Resident Evils! :)

Ok, seriously now, this is a splendid news for PSP; traditional MGS games sell a lot in JP, usually in 0.8-1m range, and that's what PSP needs. Nice MGS fanbase in US and EU is merely the icing on the cake.

I think Kojima said that Raiden is popular and liked in Japan in general, not just by the development staff, which makes sense because bishounen type guys are big there, but I think they are going to toughen/macho him up in MGS4.

And where can I download the video in your avatar? Is the trailer available in direct feed?

He did look a bit more built in the art they've released of him, it could've ofcourse been his suit that made him look a little bulky (similar to Snakes new suit). Hopefully they don't turn him into Snake though, he can still be cool without that happening.

Raiden was physically well built in MGS2, no change is needed there. I'm thinking they might tone down his "innocence", he was too much of a "nice guy" and people associated that with "sissy"... Small changes in his personality, maturing him so to speak, could remove most of the issues western gamers had with him, which again should be a logical and natural change since his experience in "Sons of Liberty" must have had a big effect on him (which was his first real mission too, as far as he remembers anyway), he's more of a "veteran" in MGS4.... I agree that they should not make him Snake personality wise.

And thanks for the link! The trailer for KH1 was one of the most memorable for me this generation, I hope this one is good too. No Hikaru Utada this time?

Well like said earlier (about a new PSP Metal Gear Game), it so many characters beside Snake that can make a compelling story/gaming experince. Ocelot, Raiden, Grey Fox/Ninja, Meryl, Liquid even a unique Side-Story of Otacon would be interesting. Anyway, I can't wait to hear more on this title.

Your in for a hella good time then, enjoy.

Oh, and Hikki is on the track again.

Maybe they seen the new Syphon Filter video and now Kojima wants to compete against it?

It's not a drastic difference or anything, but I think he looks bigger in MGS4's art

He does have a kid, and is likely still with Rose, so unlike Snake he isn't just about fighting over and over. Kojima said Snake Eraser would be our clue as to how he'd be in MGS4, but its hard to really understand what he meant about. Through the trailer he's trying to kill Snake (and Big Boss), so is that what he's going to be like? Or is it a suggestion that he'll be more willing to kill now unlike in MGS2?

WTF! Is that image real?

Damn you Kojima, I guess that makes it final, I shall get a PSP with my christmas money instead of an iPod nano. I wonder what the one major difference with the game is.
