New Official PDZ trailer

Sometimes this game looks great, sometimes it looks shabby. I don't know what's going on.

Is it just me, or are the environments godly but the character models are god-awful?

Maybe they should have put this out instead of that awful one that first appeared on IGN the other day with goldfish Joanna.

Does anyone can translate that in a format that isn't tied to Windows XP? Like... I could read it on a Mac with WMP9 or QuickTime... -_-

EDIT: Nevermind... Gametrailers.com to the rescue!

Its a rental IMO. If Multiplay is great after that rental, maybe a buy.

Man- this game is just begging to use some more development time.

On one hand- some parts look great- then on the other, the way some things move and animate, as wel as the lighting in some sections, just screams N64 or something. I'm sure if they had more time they could make it consistently look good- as it stands now, unfortunately, something is not quite right.

In any case, that trailer was chuckle worthy in its presentation. The model, the voice, the lines, the attempt at seriousness- I dunno.

No, no, no, no. Rare has had so much time. Enough is enough. They will keep perfecting it and perfecting it.

Pefecting it? more like just make it look like a next-gen title.

How come she looks different in some parts of the trailer? In game vs. pre-rendered cut scenes?

Yeah looks like it. That's like the fifth different Jo Dark we have seen now for PD0 :lol

The game just doesn't look very good from a graphics standpoint. Something just strikes me really strange about it.. I think it's the models for weapons and people. If the game comes out and it's really fun then the graphics will be forgiven as it's a 1st gen. launch title for the system. It's just surprising from Rare.

That trailer had a cheese rating of 10. The voice over and the voice script in general was laughable.

*sigh* PDZ threads are getting redundant

what normally happens in a pdz thread:
*post PDZ media*
*watch trolls nitpick about trivial crap like "get good writers roflol am i rite"
*continue bashing game for 3 or 4 pages

Yawn.

Yawn.

You forgot the post where someone comes in and posts a synopsis of a PDZ thread. Oh, and this one too :)

It's just our opinions. Maybe the game will be released and WoW everyone, or - maybe not. Time will tell.

What is "next-gen" exactly? You don't actually think they could do what they are doing on Xbox, do you?

Next gen = Oh, CRAP! I need to buy a new system so I can play that thing!

Of course PDZ looks better than Xbox games, but not by much. This kind of graphic is exactly why people mention a term like "Xbox 1.5"

I'm no way denying that the game will not be fun or anything. Just pointing out the gfx.

I see them putting up, but I refuse to accept another delay. Five years is more than enough time to put out a game that was originally expected to launch alongside the gamecube.

give it more time to cook... i'd rather have a great game than a pretty good game. this doesn't look finished, but it looks like it could be really great. i think they need months though.. some time next year based on what they've shown. there isn't a single person who played it who didn't have a few serious complaints.

It doesn't really look like Perfect Dark to me. I really hope this turns out well but from what I'm seeing, it doesn't look like any fun... and this is from someone who owned only Rare games on the n64 (except for smash brothers).

I can't put my finger on it but something is off.

This game is exceeding my expectations.

Looks like crap.

Seriously, I want to like it. But every character looks so damn lifeless and plastic. Sure there are nice shiny and bumpy surfaces, but it only makes it look like an old generation title with a small coat of next gen graphics.

Joanna, the main character, which should look very detailed, simply looks horrible. It's like a bad CGI video with plastic dolls running around in bad animation shooting each other.

Again, I want to like this and will most likely buy it, but most that has been shown about it looks just ugly. For every nice shiny bumpy wall and building geometry, there's an idiot enemy looking like a plastic ken doll and animating poorly.

I do hope it's because of the resolution of the videos, which brings another issue I have with this X05. Where's the direct feed HIGH DEFINITION media?

eh, i liked it.

the game looks great to me, especially the gamespot video of the gun fight in the parking garage.

its definitely cheese, but it looks to be intentional.

That trailer may or may not be pretty good.

If they get around to releasing it in a decent resolution and with a correct aspect ratio, we might actually be able to tell.

I couldn't agree more. I think a few extra months to tweak and refine at this stage could do wonders. We've waited this long, and I'd hate to see them push for launch and blow what could be a legitimately great game.

If only.

Maybe I'm cynical, but this trailer was created at a conference table.

i mean that, it doesnt take itself seriously. its definitely like an over the top action flick.

PDZ is soooo up & down. It looks great in some parts and meh in others. Of all the X05 game vids i've looked at this game seems to be the biggest question mark of them all. Which is especially weird considering the hype it's getting/going to get.

some of the environments are starting to look pretty impressive, but the character models are downright terrible. The animation, the modeling, everything.

If this game has a self-aware action game wit like some of the platform parodies in Conker, I'll have an orgasm. But by what I've seen thus far, I'm not convinced.

And I agree with those who say this needs more time in the oven. A spring launch to counter PS3 would be choice.

I wasn't expecting miracles from PDZ or anything, but I'm certainly expecting more out of the gameplay than what they've showcased so far. All the cheese and pretty environments aside, I'm not seeing the pull to the game, and I adored the original PD. I haven't been following it closely, but I imagine this is due in the typical Rare fashion...it'll be ready when it's ready? That is, it's not coming out this year, right?

Why are Microsoft releasing all these trailers in like 320x240?

We have shitty resolution direct feed, which is hard to make out a lot of details, and then we have shitty quality shaky-cam videos which most are too dark to make any details out.

I'll agree that it might be like an over-the-top action flick marketed at the "hip" teenager audience. Joanna's model and the way she acts is screaming to the teens "I AM SO TOTALLY HIP AND COOL" and it's kind of annoying.

This has been my one and ONLY complaint about X05. We should have at least 1 good HD-quality trailer for every launch window game. *sigh*

I don't think that's what Op Ivy means. He believes Microsoft/Rare are in tune with what gamers find annoying. And that's what they're poking fun at. If true, much respect. If not, things are much worse than I imagine.

I think I'm getting sick of the PD0 media.
why MS is hyping this is beyond me, PGR3 should be the flagship title

no, thats not what i meant either. i just think perfect dark zero is like a cheesy action movie. a cartoon action series. its not realistic, its not serious, and its not trying to be. its aimed at a different market then GAF i suppose.

i dunn. as long as the game is fun, and it has that rare presentation polish, its going to be a classic game in my book.

Looks like a lot of fun. People concentrate too much on the graphics of this game, when it should really be the gameplay. I mean it's clear it's not meant to show off, nor push the 360 in any way. This game, is going to be made or broken by the gameplay. If you want graphics, check out PGR3. My god. That game looks unbelievable.
