I'll definitely try out the Rainbow Six: Lockdown demo...And I'll probably try out Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks and Hulk too. I may as well play everything on the disc since I'll have it right?

That's a really low score in Madden terms. Madden always averages like a 9.3 from major magazines. The Superstar mode it a waste of space, and if it was in 2k, the same Madden fan overlooking this stupid mode would absolutely trash 2K for including it. All I hope is that, the 360 version gets read of all the junk and improves the stuff the really matters.

You make a suprisingly good point.

Hold on, a Patriots fan reviewed Madden 06? How can we trust the review, then!

Also, the NFL game is a little slower than NCAA football. NCAA is about wide open shotgun style run and gun offenses. NFL, for the most part, is about grinding for yards!

Looks like Madden is underwhelming at this point - as it is every year. Man I'm gonna miss ESPN. :(

No, no, no. These guys obviously don't know what they're talking about. They don't know how real football is played. We can all safely assume Madden 06 will be the best football game ever made in a market flooded with them.

I've yet to find a single magazine editor thats ever wrote a sensible sports review,so you finally said something right!

They rated NCAA a 9.1?That's like an automatic ignore for me then :P

Ramirez, with no ESPN this year, what will me and you have to disagree with??

Wrong! The first thing every rookie says about the NFL is, "it's much faster than college." This game better be a placeholder for the real Madden, Madden 360. Nathkenn please reassure me Madden 360 is going to be bonkers.

WOW! 8.0 scares me a bit. Cause if the game got 9+ for the last two years and had issues that would make us all crazy then what is this game gonna bring.

Where's Wellie? Bring some sanity to this thread Wellie. :)

I hope this doesnt mark a return to the days where it was impossible to find a good NFL football game. Of course the NFL doesnt care because they allready got their money.

I have said that it was a stupid mode from the moment I read some of the details about it. Seems like it is something that is supposed to appeal to old NFL2k players.

there are maybe 2 publications, online or otherwise, that i would put any faith in when i see a sports review. first off, most of these magazines gave nfl 2k3/4/5 great scores. strike 1. secondly, none of these magazines reported on the obvious slowdown in xbox ncaa 2005, strike 2. and LASTLY, these fucking idiots are complaining ABOUT MINIGAMES!? strike 3 get the fuck out of here!

here is the bottom line ladies: madden is the real deal holyfield. those who dislike madden weren't going to buy it even if it got a perfect 10, and those who like madden will buy it even if it got a 1. i guess people can take comfort in dissing on EA/Tiburon/Madden for not getting an outrageously good score, but truthfully who gives a shit

HEY! I shouldnt have to choose for myself! Thats what EGM and Gamepro are for!

So what about the sports gamers that wanted a great game? You lose.

I lost when EA horded the NFL license, and so did you. We all lose seeing that Madden may turn out to be mediocre after all.
Get it?

Are you a "sports gamer"? If so you won't argue with me, ok?

So rub the gamers faces in it by having no good NFL games? You make no sense.

BTW you may want to look into how the EA/NFL thing went down cause it sounds like you have no clue there. "Horded" - hardly.

Its obvious the NFL lied to the media about saying they went to EA for the deal, they wanted to protect EA.

Exactly..protect the hive!

I'm starting to think that if they whine hard and long enough, a magical pixie will come and make NFL2K6 for them!

Go for it guys!

Wow. I never thought about it like that before. Your'e right. I guess listening to reviwers is a bad idea. Next time, I think I'll just see what name is on the box. Thats a pretty good indication how good a game will be.

That is because players in the NFL players are bigger, faster, stronger than wide eyed rookies who enter the league. However, the NFL game is more of a ball controlled game with more grinding out yards. College football is all about running and gunning shotgun style passing attacks. Yeah some college teams grind the ball out too but it is few and far between the air attack college football employs.

or maybe you should... holy shit... RENT OR BUY THE GAME! wtf!!!!!!!

and just to expand on this idea for a moment, i don't need to see a review of madden or even play it before hand to know that i will gladly spend $50 on it. you see, over the years EA has produced many quality madden games, and when someone year in and year out provides you with a quality game, you have a trust in them. EA has built a customer loyalty and a customer trust. you can call it blind purchasing, fanboyism call it whatever the F you want but the bottom line is EA has earned my fifty bucks per year into the foreseeable future because of their past actions regarding madden. it would honestly take a lot for me NOT to buy a madden game. with the internet being what it is, i can see videos and read early impressions from people on gaming boards to get a pretty good idea on what to expect from the game

Actually EA went to the NFL a few years ago and proposed the exslusivity, the NFL originally turned EA down and later went back to EA and proposed an offer. So all in all, EA were the ones that put the whole idea of exclusivity in the NFL's head to begin with. EA guilty as charged, and now all you Madden fanboys that ripped on the crib can have fun playing movie role mini games! :lol

For perspective, OXM scores for previous Maddens...

2005: 9.1
2004: 8.9
2003: 8.8
2002: 9.0

and there you have it. Being a fan of both franchises, the least I would have given Madden last year was a 9.5. Best Madden ever. Besides, OXM scores leaned towards the 2K series because the games were built from the ground up on the XBOX (something Madden should have done as well).

I believe they(OXM) are talking about overall game speed, not the pace of the game.

Yeah, because the NFL isn't known for making their license exclusive

honestly, what's done is done, get over it.

p.s. i seriously doubt any NFL 2kx fans played cribs, and i doubt any madden fans are going to do the minigame roleplaying
