I dabbled with making it 70/30 give powers or kill you, but thought let's just make it an even spread. Would you take the risk?

The powers you got would be guaranteed to be a good one: Flight, invisibility, immortality, etc. Nothing like: the power of perfect breath always or some bullshit like that.

You pop the pill you either get permanent powers or death. Would you risk it? I would go with yes.

Honestly, only reason I would want to risk that would probably be in the event that the people with super powers were evil fuckers, and you basically needed some form of super power as a means of self defense

Thinking about this it would create a very fucked scenario because you'd realistically not be a first adopter so there would already be several people going about with thier super powers. A divide and hierarchy would form and any people that don't have powers would be at the bottom. So basically you'd be forced into taking the coin flip so you're not a second class citizen.

It's kind of like how most used to die at childbirth or while an infant. The pill would be the new birthing filter. Basically if you survive the pill you've passed childbirth. The ones that die from the pill would be seen similarly to how we view a miscarriage or stillborn.

I kinda risk my life or life changing injuries during some work operations with a shitty payout already, i would probably try this magic pill.

But the powers pool has to be good, stuff like super strenght or speed or telecynesis or invisibility, not stuff like "he can produce glue from his hands" et similia.

If there was just one pill in existence then no. But assuming this is available to everyone then not taking the pill and living in a world as a normal person with 1000s of assholes with super powers would be a death sentence anyway, may as well roll the dice.
