Excuse Me Pink GIF by euphoria

Was thinking this sounds stupid till realizing most absolute garbage shitbags I've known had friends. Hell, even I had a few. Ok, sure, why not if it makes people happy.

No, but I have friends from a lot of countries, mostly former students of mine, but I still need to collect people from a few countries. Right now I need someone from the UK. I was going to write collect as "collect" but that didn't make it sound any less weird. I like knowing what is going on in different countries from the people in them plus the regular friendship.

Can you build an authentic friendship from a service like that? I don't think so. This seems really sad and depressing.
There are quite a few people out there who genuinely enjoy meeting others. You may just not know any. That said, there are also a lot of people who don't really need a 24/7 friend, just someone who listens to them occasionally.

I don't think the concept is pathetic at all. Perhaps don't look at it from the extreme only. Aka the loner incel and the narcissist who only wants to make money. Most people are somewhere in between and could profit from this.

I'd probably rent someone to handle my friend obligations and engagements for me, that'd be pretty cool. Give me more time to do what I love; not be around my friends.

I don't know why, but this just made me fall out of my chair, lol 😆

I'm actually very social in real life, and I genuinely enjoy meeting new people. But I just don't see how an authentic friendship can grow from a setup like this, because at the end of the day, it's a service.
You're paying someone to act like a friend, rather than forming a natural, mutual bond. That doesn't mean it can't be helpful if someone's dealing with loneliness or struggling emotionally, I can understand how it might offer temporary relief or support.

But I think it's important to be aware that any connection formed in this context will always have emotional boundaries. No matter how kind or warm the person is, it's still a transaction and that changes the dynamic in a fundamental way.

As long as both are aware what they're getting into… I don't see a problem with it. For the one suffering it can be like a cheap psychiatrist.

isn't that called an escort.
What if told you there's a power that one can obtain to turn an escort into a full time lover.

And all of this at no monetary cost to you; simply an initial investment of some time and good D.

This is the premise of the hit movie Ricky Stanicky.

I figure most of these end with a teary conversation after the client finds out someone rented the friend for them with the friend shouting "ok! I was hired to be your friend! But that's before I knew the real you! That time we got hot dogs and threw rocks at passing trains, that was all real!"
