New PoP3 Trailer released!!!!

Really nice video. I never played Warrior Within, but based on that video I don't see what the complaining's about. That looks pretty great, actually.

It's not a trailer. Warrior Within spoiled the Prince of Persia frachise for me. Truly horrible. I exchanged it for Ninja Gaiden. That makes it the second game I've returned in my life. I've been playing games since NES so that says something. I have to say this looks good though. I didn't really mind the fact that Warrior Within was so dark, but it was just awful in it's execution. The random screams while in combat mode. The countless bugs and the decreased amount of platforming really took away the magic found in Sands of time.

Looks good, but hopefully they'll spend a bit more time ironing out bugs & glitches this time around. PoP2 had to be the buggiest game I have played in a while.

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaar! You bitch! :lol

Is there as much angst in this one as the last?

This stuff stopped being funny about a week after PoP:WW was released. Why does it need to be repeated in every thread.

You guys hate Godsmack. You guys hate emo-agnst and are so not mainstream. We get it already. Saying it for the million and first time does not make it any funnier.

Obviously you did not play the game too much before you decided to return it.

Why you keep defending WW? it was just terrible :lol

Except that it wasn't. It was exactly like SOT but with better level design, way more content (including like 3x the platforming) and better combat. The only thing about it that was worse was the presentation (which was very crappy). The gameplay beneath the presentation was as fantastic as ever.

Uh, that's nice. But isn't this thread about the third game?

You forgot the game-stopping bugs and glitches.

Yeah, don't forget the bugs, the fact that the game focused more on fighting than platforming, completely RUINED the soundtrack, killed the interesting and fun character in place of a generic 15 year old who rebels against his parents by listening to Slipknot.

There is less combat in WW then in SOT, so I don't see how it focused more on fighting.

Exactly as I have said. There is less combat in WW. No question about it.

SoT constantly locked you into an area and forced you to fight hordes of enemies until it decided to let you leave. WW integrates the enemies into the levels and there are fewer of them overall. You can also despose of enemies in a much quicker fashion should you be near a ledge (which you often are).

Although I have liked both POP's, SOT was better. Ubisoft tried too hard with WW to attract a larger audience by trying to make the atmosphere darker, which I thought took away part of what made SOT great. The environments and the soundtrack were much better in SOT. In WW, they threw that all away and replaced it with something that didn't quite fit the game. The one aspect of the game that was improved was the combat. There was much more combat in WW and they still had all the puzzles from the first game. Both games had their good points, but since I felt that environment was such a big part of the game, I preferred SOT. As for POP3, it seems to shaping up really well, it looks like Ubi have taken the best parts of both games

Not after the third post anymore.

I played it a little bit beyond that huge rader thing you have to climb. You had to jump from it, to the wall and then back again for a few times. I think it was a clock or something. I still remember that part since I kept dying over and over because of the craptastic camera. Also. The sound FX that were supposed to be coming from that thing just stopped on a certain height. As did the music. ALL THE FUCKING TIME. I just can't stand buggy games. That's probably the only reason why I returned it.

I am sure I can make broad generalizations about what music you listen to as well.

Yes, don't forget the bugs. I had 3 individual instances of game-stopping bugs before I gave up on this steaming pile--and that's after I choked down my disgust at the crappy Mortal Kombat reject redesign to try and focus on the good parts that were left.

The worst one was when the game didn't play the cutscene where that big monster breaks out part of a wall. I spent over an hour trying to figure out where to go--in a linear game! I gave up after repeatedly performing the obvious flips and jumps and ending up stuck to a wall with nowhere to go. The next day when I re-loaded, it played the cutscene and I realized what had happened.

After that, whenever I was in doubt about where to go, I had to wonder if the game had glitched again. I finally stopped playing much further in when I was completely stuck again and didn't feel like re-loading to see if a way would magically open.

That was pretty good. There's a lot of junior members around at the moment, and you're the first I've liked! Based on one post.

Now I'm going to look at your post history and work out how you suck.

"I'm the prince of persia... and the king of BLADES"

no, thanks

Edit: I've actually never finished PoP2 even tough i tried twice, both times a bug prevented me from finishing it
once I realized I wasn't going nowhere for about an hour, then on the map the objective was "Find the Girl in Black" which I had done hours ago and I already saved since the bug happened
then the other time I got past where I locked up before and in a room where I'm supposed to fight one of those giants he's completely invisible

I picked up PoP:WW a week ago at Circuit City's clearance. Overall I think the balance is a lot better compared to SoT, but SoT is so much better polished I'd say it is the better game. Combat is more intuitive and spread out better with an equally quality amount of platforming compared to the first. However, the Prince's random screams of angst, 90% of the music being nu-metal (there's a few that have some Persian influences which I really dig), the lacking presentation and the numerous bugs (I've only encountered audio ones but they really kill the mood when you're doing all these cool jumps and back-flip wall-springing decapitation swings to the tune of nothing) bring down an otherwise superior sequel.

As for PoP3, when I heard how they were first describing the game I was thinking "Oh dear god no! GTA: Cairo!!". However this looks real promising, but what was up with everone referring to Babylon as a oriental city?

Leaving those bugs in is really really weak on ubisofts part, I lucked out and didn't run into anything like that, but there really is no excuse for letting those slip by QA.

I haven't bought a new game in almost 2 months, I just walked home with PoP:WW an hour ago.

Darkness shroud me.

No. The Prince's sand demon alter-ego seems to exist to both mock the forced, generic rage in Warrior Within and bring back the witty narrative and dialogue from The Sands of Time.

Still cautiously optimistic about Kindred Blades.

It looks nice from an environmental design perspective. I am not really anticipating it much because of how awful Warrior Within was, the color palette seems seems overwhelmingly "orangey" and I can't stand the character design.

I am somewhat surprised the character design bothers me so much as this is one of those things that do not bug me much in games (if I don't like it, then I appreciate the rest the game can offer.) But in PoP2 and PoP3 the designs seem just too ugly. They are almost aggravating to look at. Not to mention the splattering of blood when doing some attacks. Ugh...

I might still get this, but it still bothers me to see such potential wasted.
