They look downsampled.
Yeah, they clearly are. However, I think everyone can easily picture what it will look like on the actual screen. The content on screen looks very impressive, though.

Why does everyone always buy EA's screenshots?
EA typically releases shitty PSP shots, though. Remember Madden PSP?

I don't know why they chose to give us AA'd shots, but really, is it that difficult to look beyond the AA? I know what it will look like on the actual PSP screen and I'm sure most of us do as well.

O.o ... load times ... please don't kill the game ...
They were totally decent in NFSU-R, actually. I'm sure they'll be the same or better. Shouldn't be a problem.

Damn, the "enable antialiasing" tick-box is well hidden in the PSP SDK. Seems that EA has found it!

In fact, this must be the best learning curve ever!

in less less than a year!

Holy shit!

Are you serious? EA has released some of the worst screenshots ever for their games. The only time I was skeptical was when I saw Burnout 3 shots. Then I saw the game, and promptly ate a helping of crow. This and the tiger Woods shots show that the first batch of games were clearly rush jobs and these are the real deal.

Holy shit!

You know it! EA is turning into the graphics champions.

I'm still not terribly fond of the yellow sky. Aside from that, the screens look utterly gorgeous! Between this and Burnout Legends, EA has a nice combo for racing fans who own the PSP.

I refuse to believe.

Also, I would love a utterly gorgeous PSP game that wasn't in the racing genre #*@&~

*cough*

Princess Crown better come to the USA, or I will lose faith.

Same here. As great as those graphics are for the PSP, I think I can speak for everybody when I say we're sick of the fucking games involving cars.

I'm willing to accept a more sim lined racer like Gran Turismo, but all this dub/arcade shit is now overflowing and destroying the floodgates. There's too many of them. And then we get Coded Arms and fucking Death Jr. to fill in the time between racer 36 and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.

This game does look like a huge improvement. I wonder what games will look like when devs can use the full 333 Mhz CPU and the whole power of the GPU.

On the PS2, EA went from this:

The visuals between both games remained identical. In fact, I'd say that NFS:HP2 is actually the cleaner looking game and there was most certainly no step up between both games.

Whoa whoa whoa, not at all.

NFSU sports much more detailed models, far more impressive effects (including some of the best motion blur I've seen), and great reflections. It was a huge step up. Both had about the same framerate as well...

I'm an admitted Sony-holic but even I doubt the final product will look anything like these shots.
It will look the same outside of image quality. Look at any 3D PSP title and you can guess what the image quality of this will look like. Models and backgrounds will be as you see.

Downsampling aside, that looks freaking incredible. I haven't ever been much of a NFS fan since they strayed into the underground themes, but this does look very appealing.

That looks.. too good. heh

I complain about this every day, but why the hell can't EA and other people release screens from the GAMEPLAY. Not replays or any of that crap, but the ACTUAL game, with the display (laps, time, etc.) on it? It bugs me so mch.

Hey, I see 0pa on the third screen.

The actual game will no doubt, not look quite as clean as these shots. Other than that, what I think what really makes the game look great is the lighting.

All the hype surrounding these screenshots are unjustified. I saw some earlier screenshots of the port, and they did NOT look this good.

Don't buy it, people.

It looks very nice. They improved the lighting/shading on cars.
And yes, downsampled - but tell me, how many of you were actually bothered by aliasing while playing NFSU on PSP? How many of you really thought it was noticable in motion?

Get it? EARLIER screenshots.

*raises hand*

FUCK AGAIN!

Why are ALL of the great looking PSP games RACERS?! I refuse to buy more.

I've got Ridge Racer, Wipeout, & Midnight Club

and they want me to buy Burnout, Colin McRae, Pursuit Force, SSX (I call it a racer), & NFS?

You shouldn't call Pursuit Force a racer either though.

It's GOT CARS!! AND YOU DRIVE! ;) In fact, the trailer I saw was 90% driving. Racers, Driving games, whatever (GTA is part one too)

I distinctly remember EA initially releasing downsampled (and squashed) PS2 screenshots of Burnout 3 as Burnout for PSP. I think there is possibility that this could be the case here as well.
