Has anyone gotten the October issue of Nintendo Power? I searched the forum and didn't come up with anything, sorry if this has been discussed before. The latest Nintendo Power comes with a 20-page supplemental called New Puppy The Magazine covering Nintendogs of course :lol. Given how the magazine was dominated by Pokemon a few years back, I wonder if this is a sign of things to come? It's a cute little magazine that definitely doesn't take itself too seriously (with bylines such as I.M Furry and Thirsten Howl) and fake advertisements hawking goods for your virtual dog. Cretins who hate dogs or all things cute will probably vomit after reading a few pages, but I was mildly amused. More entertaining than another Pokemon insert at any rate
.
I scanned the rest of the mag and didn't find much of note, but there was a short sidebar on Japanese DS games (why do they keep getting the interesting DS games?). Touch Panic, a puzzler for the DS, was one that caught my eye. This is the first I've heard of the game; looks like it makes good use of the stylus, although the game looks an awful lot like the old game Timeball by Broderbund. Anyone know if it's the same game? There's also some screens and info for Super Princess Peach, New Super Mario Bros. (in an odd and poorly written article lamenting the death of 2D), and 5 and 2 page writeups on Lost in Blue and Trace Memory respectively. Speaking of that 2D article, there's a choice quote in there from the PSP-fanboi's favorite whipping boy Iga:

Igarashi said:I'm always thinking about making a hand-drawn game for home systems. But because they depict very minute details, it would require very advanced graphics. From a cost-performance standpoint, it doesn't make sense. It would require a lot of time and money to create all that art. When development costs get too high, then it doesn't make for good business. Personally, I would love to do hand-drawn games on consoles, but it has to balance out.
