Wow, the El Gigante fight with the P.R.L. was pretty pathetic. I remember having to take out that bastard with only the starting pistol, and for my first time through, I didn't even know you could climb onto his back. Now that was fun.
1. Considering the graphics, the early version's screens, the hardware differences between GC and PS2, the hardware they are workin on, Capcom really made a miracle with this game. Unbelievable.
2. The chances it will be the Game of the Year are high. And it deserves this prize.
3. On PS2 it will finally sell a LOT of copies. And it deserves this.
4. PS2 joypad used to AIM really sucks! See how many correction have to make the player to shot the enemies' head.
Personal opinion:
I played and beated this game on GC. I think it is one of the three best title of this generation. (others are Metroid Prime and The Wind Waker/MGS3 [Tie])

No buy for me, Musashi. I got Soul Calibur III and Shadow of the Colossus and Castlevania DS and GTA:LCS to buy. I'm already poor, can't fit in re-releases like RE4. At 20 I'll jump

Yeah I noticed that too, the lighting in the cutscene of El-Gigante's death was "more rich / less flat" than the actual gameplay, and also the game seems to be running in a higher resolution than the GC version (although technically you shouldn't be able to tell from the video), but it looks like it's missing the "grity/dirty" look of the GC version which I kind of miss, there's something "flat" about it, too clean, which makes visual imperfections stand out more... I have to reserve judgments until I see it on my TV to decide which version I prefer graphics wise (my TV supports anamorphic widescreen).
That's going to make NO difference to me or alot of other people who are buying the PS2 version of the game unless Capcom releases a GC version of the game with the extras that are on the PS2 version for $20, and Nintendo also drops the price of a new Gamecube down to $30 so that I can get a Gamecube and the game for the price I'll pay to get the PS2 version.
The conversion is superb. I would have never expected such a faithful transition. Differences are minimal, and the Ada side story is intriguing and challenging. I planned to keep the GC version and just have someone lend me the PS2 version to play the extra content, but after playing this I decided to get rid of the GC version right away. Of course I am happy to have played the GC version as soon as it came out and I'd do it again, but this is THE RE4 version to keep in my collection. Hats to off to Capcom and Inafune.
