Please play as good as Ridge Racer V.

Yes, let's hope so. :P RRV has the most rewarding drifting mechanics ever.

Anyway, those look nice enough. At least Namco has the balls to release in-game pictures unlike Bizzarf.

I hated Type 4's gameplay. RRV too.

Rage Racer and Ridge Racers gameplay for the win!

I liked Rage Racer man... that was actually different from the other RRs, but they never brought that one back or even plan to apparently...

i honestly think this one is gonna be a hit with rr fans and arcade racing fans, and the rest will play pgr3 , i dont think it is bad per se, but i think it definitely is more of the same ridge racer we are used to

It looks nice, but something feels off. It's not as bright as I remember Ridge Racer...it has a dull, lifeless look to it. There's no soul, baby!

i'm a big fan of ridge racer, and i like the way this looks.

it may not be the most graphically impressive title on xbox 360 but as long as it plays good i'll be happy.

The city scape and the stereotypical RR car in the second shot makes my mouth water. Not because it's all that technically impressive, but because of the aesthetics.

If that is how the blur looks in game I hope there is an option to toggle it off.

Who knows but how about you wait to see what motion blur looks like in motion before you get your knickers in a twist.

Anyway I think it's looking really good. The fact is that it's Ridge Racer but ONLINE and that is enough for me. This will probably get a lot more playtime from me on Live than PGR3 too.

like i said earlier i think it will just be this game for arcadey fans, the pgr3 for the sim fans,, remeber pGR3 is closely involved with MS to get all sorts of cool live shit and whatnot.. namco is just putting out a game that will likley make it on to PS3 as well

its apples and oranges

Ummm no.

Already sold on this game it looks great to me, but I'm sure hundreds of trolls will enter the thread to try to rip it apart, it's just what you expect from this place at times.

you are saying ridge racer 6 is more sim than pgr3? cause if so then im not even sure what to say

Oh no, I'm saying PGR3 is more of an arcade racer than a sim racer IMO.

ah i wasnt sayign it wasnt but it definitely is closer ot sim than rr, which is why the sim fans will lean towards that rather than rr

I haven't played PGR3 yet but the PGR games (and MSR) have always been very arcadey and the only "sim" aspect has been the realistic graphics and cities. I don't see why PGR3 has to be brought up in every Ridge Racer 6 thread though since they are both very different style arcade racers and they can both end up being great.

thats why i said apples and oranges, besides the fact they are both racing they arent very similar

In relative terms you're right. But sim fans should wait for Forza 2 or GT5 :p ;)

So you liked R:Evolution?

If you remember, I did actually, especially the rally mode. Had lots of cool little ideas but as a full on racing game it never fully came together. Could have been that I didn't own my Xbox at the time and it was the only decent racing game on the Cube at that time.

In general, just because the RR games started as ludicrious drift games doesn't mean that they can't take the game and modernize it to a point where there is a semblance of physics and risk and reward to the driving. With a modern RR I'd expect the equivalent road racing version of Rallisport or even Sega Touring Car by now.

A game like Out Run 2 was a huge dissapointment to me. It pretty well played identical to the original...18 years later. You can't hide behind your genre or your heritage anymore.

I hope they do something new with the driving instead of repeating themselves. Namco has all the cool looks and style, and they have evolved that. I can get into the drifting mechanics as long as there is substantial reward and satisfaction to hitting that drift instead of the typical brake tap and turn. At least give me some road surface feedback.

looks pretty good. not sure what namco is thinking with the way in which they are trying to generate hype. are they trying to generate hype?
