New RPG goodness

The End

Member
After a while off, I'm thinking of picking up a new RPG. I'm abandoning all the ones I've started already (Paper Mario 2, DDS2, SH:C, SO3), and starting fresh. I'm thinking of either Fire Emblem:POR or maybe waiting for Grandia 3. As a reference, my favorite RPGs this gen are probably BOF:DQ, SMT:Nocturne, and Disgaea.

What say you GAF?

Leaning heavily towards FE:POR now. Will it ever not be $50?

Put it on easy to learn it. If you put it on difficult you'll regret it.. because you'll have to do a TON of battles over because of stupid 1 hit bullshit.... then again you could just let a bunch of characters die... but nobody ever wants to do that.

Oh and by the way, you don't always want to use Titania for EVERYTHING. Just a tip, and don't use Master Seals till level 20. This is good advice if you're going to try on difficult.

OOOO and when you get to chapter 15 I have a cool exploit I don't think any sites have really come to discover yet. You can get a character 15 levels with no worries, it's nice! ;)

Sorry about all this, but I'm totally into this game right now :)

Fire Emblem: PoR was too easy on normal.

I blame this on my resetting over and over until I got good stats when doling out bonus experience though. Maxed out Str, Spd, Def, and Skill at level 13 ftw!

DQ8 is not at all what its cracked up to be on this board, and I'm a big RPG fan.

With that said...

Try Radita Stories
(I'm gonig to get lynched for saying this, I'm sure)

not to override topic(cant make own topics since im a junior, but what im about to ask may help topic poster too)

Does anyone know any real good story portable rpgs for gba/ds? I have ff1 and 2 but the story is way linear.... Just beat chain of memories which was awesome... Beat all BN series, Mario and Luigi, i refuse to play pokemon... Any deep portable rpg's with a deep story?

Fire Emblem's stories are pretty good.

Skip Golden Sun, though. Try Golden Sun 2, from what I hear it is much better then the first, and it explains everything for you in the beginning.

But yeah, Fire Emblem (either one, really) gets my pick.

A lot of character development goes on as well. Like I said, they aren't DEEP, but I can't think of anything better on handhelds.

Try them out.

Are you talking about the level with the two laguz near the boss who will not move if attacked by ranged characters? That's been well documented if so.

DQVIII.

FE is great, but since it's FE, it's got that one big flaw that irks me.
I cannot allow anyone to die. It's just the principle of it. So I restart. A lot. And it gets tiring.

DQ8. Your comparing a good B-level RPG to a A level series.

I wouldn't know that. Hence, the question.

Either way, I'm really enjoying Radiata Stories thus far. DQVIII can wait a bit.

Finish Paper Mario 2. Then think about it again.

Also, since you listed three of the hardest RPGs of the generation as your favorites, you would probably like Grandia Xtreme.

paper mario 2 was awesome! u suggest chain of memories IF you beat, and loved Kingdom hearts. any ff game is awesome, for some reason i cant like dq8(im not saying its not good though so hold your horses)

I've beaten DDS1, and am mired in the middle of DDS2. I picked up FE on the way home though, I'll hook up the cube in a little while and give it a spin.

Digital Devil Saga (distant second)

FTW - although Radiata Stories is charming, too. DQ8 is a must purchase for anybody who even remotely likes good games.

Yeah.. 'charming' is about the best I can give it, honestly.
