wtf the 3rd screen is looking something out of scooby doo :lol

George Lucas needs to sue some people. That one alien looking dude looks like he's straight out of Star Wars. the other makes me think of Doom 3. I hope this game is good.

I'm hearing some conflicting things about this game.

From what I've heard, it's played out on one HUGE map, divided into 30 sectors. Stuff will keep happening in other sectors while you try to traverse through it looking for your objectives.

It seems to be aiming for that wide-openess feeling that was lacking in HL2, Halo2, Doom3. And yeah the backgrounds are gorgeous (though the in game models looked hideous from what I saw of it last time).

Multiplayer worked the same way I think, several "STALKERS" load up and play on one huge map, challenging each other to reach certain goals or something like that.

Originally there was talk of no load time between sectors(?) or they were aiming for a seamless giant map or something, but then the last preview I read said there was in fact load times between sectors and so forth.

None the less, it sounds fairly interesting.

The monsters fuck it up. This has been in development for a while...

I'm still interested in this game. Even if the gameplay really fails to deliver, a wide open game world with the detail they've shown in previous pics and movies would still provide some good entertainment. I hope this does manage to turn out well, though.

what is with the image quality? It's like it's running a very low color palette. I think it looks nasty

Turn down your monitor brightness...

It just looks so terribly generic. In fact, after the release of Half-Life 2, it looks dated and unecessary. Say what you will about WWII shooters, but I'm just so fuqing tired of shooting aliens.

I was under the impression that this game would be fairly rooted in reality. Although I believe radiation and the like can lead to some nasty mutations, the monsters seen in these screens are a bit over the edge for what I would choose to believe is reality. :P

Just release the game already, I had almost forgotten about this game.
Looks less and less impressive, FarCry and HL2 looks more impressive now.

Let's hope it plays 1000x better than FarCry. Talk about a game where the visuals weren't its savior.

It IS rooted in reality. The areas that have been shown are quite beautiful as well (well, perhaps ugly AND beautiful thanks to setting).

At least, unlike HL2, you are free to explore the world. The simple idea of having such a massive, detailed world before you is very exciting to me. IF they could somehow pull off the atmosphere right (it needs a very lonely feeling with a sense of uneasiness), it could end up being something really memorable. I hope they can pull it off. Far Cry had massive worlds, but the atmosphere sucked (along with the gameplay). HL2 had great atmosphere and visuals, but you were totally on rails and everything was divided by awful loadtimes. There was no sense of existing within a large world.

God the game looks soooo amazing, since I don't have a gaming caliber PC I can only hope that the next gen consoles will look as good or better.

The game looks boring. Also I am getting tired of these mutants and monsters, they ruin FPS's for me! Why can't developers just go wtih humans? Far Cry was RUINED by mutants :(

Well, the alpha that was leaked a while back ran really great, but it was just throwing out some random, and rather empty, environments.

Plus, we've been fooled about a game's real performance from early tests before. I'm looking at you Half-Life 2.

Yeah, the game definitely seemed to take a very realistic approach based on previous pics, and that's what made me interested. It seemed to be realistic not just in its environments, but in the game as a whole. That's why the monster in the pics posted made me confused. It looks "too" mutated to be a mutated human. If that's what it's supposed to be? It looks more like a generic monster from the sci-fi fps of your choice, than a realistic mutation. I mean, red eyes, octopus mouth? It's not like I can't accept it, but it's not really what I was expecting to see in this game.

Well, to be fair, the mutants in this game are not too terribly over the top. They still have a very human-like form. Though, the red eyes and such are a bit of a stretch. We know nothing about the sound design or atmosphere, though, so it's still possible that those enemies COULD prove to be somewhat scary in the context of the game.

It could go either way, but I'm hoping for the best. :\

Because having only humans would be boring. If you want humans, go play some generic war fps. aliens/mutants/monsters are far more interesting than humans.
