Did you even read the OP? The upgrades are listed right there. Is this the same as I already own on the switch? Also I swear the trilogy bundle was also already on the series x months ago with the switch. How is this any different?
Great to hear the pc version getting some love. Hope it don't mess up mods though.
Seems like they're also on PS plus for May, not bad.
What did they censor?Sounds like a censored downgrade. Well, at least I didn't pay for it.
Bro can't just say that and bounce! What did they censor or cut?Sounds like a censored downgrade. Well, at least I didn't pay for it.
Removed Russian VO (i.e. the original language of the game) and also removed certain assets (statues, etc.) I'm guessing because they were too "Soviet" (as if the entire game isn't). At least they've done so with SoC, I haven't looked into the others yet. There's an article on PCGamer with a couple examples. What did they censor?
removed some russian voicelines, changed rubels, changed military, changed some posters, removed sign at CNPP, removed red crosses
So it's not just replacing stuff, but deleting it from the game which is way lazier lol.
Some more specific details from some post on reddit:
I think I'll stick with the originals. I'm not into politics but altering the game in such a lazy way just for the sake of censorship... Yeah nah, fuck off.
Plus I don't care about some graphical enhancements that I could mod into the original game anyway...
Or the Devs who butchered it.so there's no reason for players to respect this version of the game.
I don't know if anyone asked this, but can you still play the original console releases from last year (I have them on Xbox)? Or do you get the enhanced versions by default?
As for the censorship, I can understand it in Stalker 2 which was released after Russia's invasion. But retroactively changing the content of older games? That's not good.
It's not a matter of loving Russia (I personally hate their actions and fully support Ukraine), it's just pointless censorship of something that has zero impact on the war. It's basically a form of historical revisionism with zero merit to it.They are in an active war with Russia who wants to literally enslave them ofcourse they are salty.
I am more surprised people care. I never knew there were so many people who loved Russia.
Thanks, I finished the og Shadow of Chernobyl and didn't have any major complaints. Going to do the same with two other games.Their FAQ stated the enhanced editions would be seen as new games in your library, which also means saves won't be compatible or mods etc
Usually releases like this don't remove access the originals, unless they try to hide it behind a forced sequel like Overwatch 2 as an example. The original versions are still in my Steam library.
You have a link?Removed Russian VO (i.e. the original language of the game) and also removed certain assets (statues, etc.) I'm guessing because they were too "Soviet" (as if the entire game isn't). "The monument/sign outside Chornobyl itself, which reads "ChAES in the name of VI Lenin," has been straightforwardly deleted, leaving just the two concrete blocks it used to stand on." Won't let me copy the pictures here but they're in the article.
Steam forums and reviews are a warzone. Very disappointing decision. A remaster or re-release should never be censored. Never.
Anyone having issues with getting a wireless mouse to work on PS5? I've tried using both dongle mouse and straight Bluetooth, keyboard works fine. What's weird is that my PS5 registers my Bluetooth mouse just fine, just the game that won't. I can navigate the menu and control my character with my keyboard, but mouse just won't work.
Yeah, this is a terrible revision of already established media!I looked forward to buying it after seeing all the nice graphical enhancements.
The Stalker series is very important for me personally and my family. I remember how my father, brother, and I were waiting and anticipating the release of the very first game all these years back (teenage me even took part in the short story contest that devs organized for the fans back then).
Growing up in Soviet/post-Soviet Russia, living here in the West now, this series (as well as Metro) was my saving grace when I felt nostalgic for my lost Motherland.
This censorship of the remasters is just tasteless, wrong, and simply disrespectful to the games as an art and for all the people who loved and played them. Plain dumb regardless of the politics and current world events.
I'm not buying it anymore.
Censorship is bad, in most if not all cases. They are in an active war with Russia who wants to literally enslave them ofcourse they are salty.
