New screens of Mercury for PSP

Finally! Been waiting to see more of this one, and hoping it didn't fall off the face of the planet.

More texture work, redesigned HUD are notable since the last batch of shots during E3. Wish we had new video too.

I just assumed it used the standard PSP controls - there hasn't been much info about this one, and you're one up on me by having seen something in Edge about it.

I think it just uses the standard PSP controls. I suppose this (or another game) could use a tilt-sensing module connected to the USB port or the Memory Stick slot, if such a device were developed.

DAMN IT. They changed the name from Sticky Balls? Argh. I was looking forward to going to the store and asking for some Sticky Balls. :(

How would that even work?

I would think that would cause having with the disk reading. The UMD is incased so it may not be a problem. Definately not an issue with carts but optical media it can be a hassle.

Haven't a clue. Maybe they meant you use the PSP controls to "tilt" the maze? I dunno but am interested in knowing what the dealio is, myself.

There hasn't been any mention of tilt sensors in the PSP, so I think this is just a matter of tilting the maze via the PSP controls.

I'd hope there was a peripheral, like with wario ware.

It'd also be cool if there was a little camera facing up, and the picture was reflected in the mercury.

IGN has a short news story up tonight to accompany the pics:

The control scheme is minimal -- simply tilt each level to cause the mercury to flow in a particular direction. Just how it should flow, however, is the real challenge.

"Without exception, everyone who has seen the early versions of Mercury behind the scenes has immediately loved it," says Archer Maclean at Awesome Studios. "It's an incredible game which will define a new genre. Coding it to run this fast has been staggeringly complicated, yet the results are hugely impressive. We're delighted to be able to work with Sony Computer Entertainment in making this a PSP launch title. It's just perfect for the format."
Hyperbole aside, I'm glad to hear its a launch title, though I guess that's a little unclear as to whether they mean Europe or NA.
