New SFV CFN Beta and more content in April

People still begging for an arcade mode should just go support Guilty Gear / Blazblue/ Tekken 7 / KoF / Injustice already and give up on SF5 at this point

I would argue casual SF has always been about both those things. Arcade mode was something fun to do when your friends weren't available. And personally I only really knew one guy who gave a shit about fighters growing up so a lot of my time was spent in single player.

I'd actually be more likely to buy DLC if there was an arcade mode because then there's more reason to own characters other then my main. I don't see a point in playing online with characters I suck with but in arcade/ladder modes I like to try everyone.

I agree with this. For me, I loved playing against my friends at home, and then when they weren't around I loved ripping through the arcade mode with all the characters to learn them and just for fun. The fighting mechanics are great and very satisfying.

I've come to terms with the fact that Capcom wants to focus on the competitive scene only, even if it's at the expense of the casuals, nothing can be done about it at this point. I wish they'd throw us a bone though :(

I agree with what others have said here as well - I don't think they have much to gain at this point by adding an arcade mode as most casuals moved on when it was clear it wasn't coming. I can always hope though.

I've done exactly this, but I still have a love for street fighter, so I'd love to see arcade mode make a return for the game. I do believe that it is pretty well never going to happen at this point though.

Maybe those people don't want to play those games? People play SF because they want to play SF. Same with people playing Tekken for Tekken. Despite the fact that I think people should play multiple fighting games at once, sometimes people want what they want.

Then they can enjoy Ultra SF4 :D

On the real, most people are either tired of that game, or want to play SFV. Even between the games, it's difficult to tell someone to go play another SF when they don't play all that similar. You can't even do that with most other fighters either : /

If they REALLY want to play SFV that bad then they should probably get over their fragile egos and jump online and play other low level players

You heard the man Japan. SFV belongs to America!

For real though, there was an arcade version announced at one point right? Or did I imagine that.

I support other fighters and certainly wish other people would too but I'll always keep an eye on SF as its the fighting series I have the most nostalgia for. I want to like SFV more then I do.

yes but like the alex and ibuki costumes they have been silent since announcement. Capcom never ceases to amaze me on how they handle this game.

LOL, where have I heard that logic before? Oh yeah - "we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called Xbox 360."

You must realize how that sounds.

Worked just fine when I was in the mood to play Guilty Gear years and years before Xrd came out ;) Works just fine for SF3s too, and CvS2, and SF2 and so on

How can they be silent over something for so long. You can't expect it to just go away.

Those costumes were shown at the same time as SF2 Thailand I think, so maybe news on that soon? (Maybe that's the "unannounced" content coming at the end of this month)

Or hit the VS CPU.

The PC version has a mod for it too, and if Sneakers is to be believed, an Arcade mode is coming. Maybe more additional content this month too, since there's still April stuff on the horizon.

Just doesn't work when I want to play street fighter 5 ;)

In all seriousness though, no one is requesting that anything gets taken away from the competitive scene with this. Plus it's unlikely to arrive anyhow so you have nothing to be worried about.

Can't you just mimic the feel of the arcade mode by making vs. CPU matches? Or going into survival mode? I understand that maybe it's a bit more frustrating to do it this way, but it feels like there are modes in there that closely enough mimic a classic "arcade" mode that it's not a pressing priority for Capcom.

Why should people have to do that when Capcom should just add it to the game? It can't be that hard to add it when they've always done it before. I don't want to sit and go in and out of vs CPU to practice with a character or in training mode for that matter. It's casual to play fucking arcade mode, casual. The people at Capcom are fucking dense though.

Also people they expect to buy the game as casuals have fucking lives. Nostalgia only goes so far. I'm not gonna play for hours on end when A) I suck online, B) I have a full time job, C) I have a family/responsibilities/etc.

Basically, to me, arcade mode would provide me an environment to fuck around with characters I wouldn't otherwise play with because I can't be bothered to do it via CPU vs or training.

Capcom, up to this point I'm convinced, does not give a shit about their fans or casuals.

The game came out in February 2016 and so far I've only spent $17 on the game (bought late October on Newegg). I don't feel ripped off since I didn't pay much, but for $60 I'd feel pretty burned. Hopefully they'll add arcade mode and improve CFN to the point where I actually feel compelled to play more than once a week for some free FM.

Same here. I play tons of fighters, but SF was my first, and I started with single player arcade modes.

If they are going to make it, they at least have to put some effort in it and that takes time. I believe that is what they are setting up for, seeing the retro stage revamped. They need to tweak the ai a lil bit, the current ai is a lil weird.

I think they'll get it going.

What a dense and patronising post. Like people have mentioned, if you want to have a go at beating the computer have a go at VS CPU, which is basically what an arcade mode is. You can even put it on very beginner friendly if you want to. It's easier said "they should do X,Y and Z" because we want it and we can't assume "it's not hard" just because they have done it before. We don't know thier plan or what thier priorities are - which is clearly not arcade mode.

Also, people who play the game seriously, *shock horror*, also have very busy lives and responsibilities you know, they simply hop onto the game online, play a few sets and jump back off again. That's possible to do in this day and age because the online is much better and actually populated very well and it's one of the reasons why the CFN delay is happening - to improve even further before release.

I actually do play KOF tho :v

(and locally too since all my friends play it)

That said, might get back to SFV once the S2 patch drops.

EDIT:

This is secretly my favorite post lol

That said, we should consider other things like online functionality (which I found to be fine, but I was only playing people in Cali most of the time when I was playing and only grinded up to Gold rank before retiring and becoming a normie) and the existence of smurf accounts (which is very real for whatever reason), but I mostly feel like people that complain sometimes don't even complain about this.

Been playing this game some months now. Still going between rookie to broonze rank. Never experienced such competetive online community before its madness

I need Arcade

Fuck survival

I'm just trying to enjoy the game the wrong way? Okay got it.
