Looks terrible in these screens.
Anyway the TGS real time demo although in alpha status had impressive graphics.

they good look to a sonic game.

considering how sonic games looked this gen. i say this look the same for next gen. nothing ground breaking. nothing ugly. ok for all

I always wondered, was "Super Sonic" something to make sonic an equal to "Super Mario" in the same way the new Xbox is called 360 instead of "2" just because Sony is releasing a PS3?

ignore me if I don't make any sense...

They look nice.

But still, a part of me would like to see some more 'abstract' looking backgrounds and enemies.

It's getting a tad too realistic.

No, Super Sonic was an in-joke put in Sonic 2 by the designers because an anime called "Dragon Ball Z" was very popular in Japan at the time.

But the fans really liked it, so they keep bringing it back.

the 'Sega Next Level: hedgehog' sequence has little to do with the actual gameplay footage shown, which is a shame.

While I am sure everyone will bemoan the idea of cel-shading, I think its perfect for the Sonic series. As Drinky says, trying to make it 'realistic' just... doesnt work. A really fantastic cel-shading style that conveys shitloads of speed (the 'boost' in JSRF felt faster than any Sonic game has, indeed the developers of the JSR games should be given the Sonic license) and a return to some really fantastical bright locations.

The new Sonic just looks like SA1 again with physics thrown in and good graphics for the Xbox or Gamecube.

Ah the dbz resemblance makes sense. Thanks

What the fuck happened to this?

I know what you mean.

C'mon Sonic Team. Every other fuckin' hot-shot developer wants to make the most realistic but ultimately soul-less graphics. Be different, god dammit! Go against the flow!

Looks like Sega finally caught up to this generation's level in graphics for next generation. :lol

Now let's hope this 3D Sonic game actually turns out good, it doesn't look like any other Sonic characters are in the game besides Sonic and the gameplay looks different to what we are used to from Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes.

I just remembered, Sonic team makes the DUMBEST idle animations for characters....

I remember eggman breathing like he had run a marathon or something while cycling trough his idle animation.

By the looks of the TGS movie, and sonic's running animation, nothing changed since.

Trust me. Knuckles and Tails are gonna show up at some point.

In a recent interview, the creators stated that they just 'can't' leave out Sonic's sidekicks because they're 'too popular.'

I guess they think the games aren't gonna sell as well if Big the Cat and Cream the Rabbit don't come along for the ride.

Where is this stated as a fact? I mean we've all heard this rumor, but is there any publication that has an interview flat out saying this to be true?

I look at this, and can't help but think...

your crazy, ofcourse that is next gen, they took to time to add individual blades of grass.

:lol

You know, better graphics are great, but you would think some of these developers would at least come up with some great ideas for a new generation. Or at least figure out what works and what doesn't work best in a video game. I sure hope next gen. isn't gonna be the same old games with a few more polygons. Because that's what this game is setting itself up to be. Yeah, I'll probably enjoy the game. God knows at least there won't be any lame-ass shooting levels or 'find-the-emerald shard' crap. They've learned that much. Right?

Well, RIGHT???

I still get the feeling that the Sonic cartooning style doesn't translate well into "realistic" 3D modeling the way Sega's been doing it. The characters aren't even built for the kind of modeling they're now crafted with, really; it's a *really* simplistic and clean style (but a good style). 3D cel-shading at next-gen quality, wow, it'd be a perfect match.

But this is evoking too much of the "eh..." feeling for my tastes.

However, the Eggman (?) cruiser does look pretty cool.

Looks really good. I'm glad to see the next 3D installment after Sonic Heroes impress me so well. And that Super Sonic model is sex. I suppose one could say Sonic doesn't look 'next-gen', but I have a hard time thinking of how they ca use the graphical power to make Sonic look more sonic-ky

What I DON'T like is this grimmer tone the series has. What happened to the days when the most devastating enemy you could face was a spiked robotic worm? :lol
