new Sonic title for GC??

I was suitably agitated at first, especially since they were slapping in new characters into a game design that didn't require the characters to run fast (which means ANYONE could step onto a board and control it well), but one thing, ONE thing, has at least got me thinking for a second... I didn't notice it at first, because the list splits them up, but all three new characters are birds. Swallow, Hawk, and Albatross. So MAYBE they aren't just pathetic new attempts at cool mascots, but instead part of some "bird" gang in the plot. (I think it'd be stretching too far to hope for a Tails Adventure tie-in, though.)

Or maybe it's just a window into who was originally going to star in the game before they designed to repaint it with Sonic to support it better.

...Yeah, this just sounds really just... yeah. All it took is one bad press release and my interest crashed into the ground. "eXtreme" and "Web the Swallow" have that effect on people, though.

Yep.

Sega makes murder porn. Say it again, y'all.

Well, design wise it looks shit loads better than Shadow at the moment. Looks almost Dreamcastish in terms of textures, like Sonic Adventure 2 and Trickstyle made babies.

New characters don't look too bad, but I'm annoyed at NEW characters. Hell, I though the main reason why they added so many characters in recently [Return of the Chaotix, Bringing back Sonic the Fighters, along with Nack/Fang, Bean and Bark], is because they were revving up for some huge Sonic Kart game with plenty of characters. Looks like I was wrong.

The birds look like Super Deformed Flickies from 3D Blast.

It looks decent. Hopefully at 60fps!!!

When I was playing around with the UT 2003 engine, I was starting a little mod I called Sonic R: Fast and Furrious :P and I basically modelled Sonic's movement on a rally car, and I seriously think that any 3D Sonic game should be based on this. Running around, jumping...heck, just PLATFORMING (ie. running around and jumping around) was fun, and the physics were great, just like the 2D Sonics. Though I hacked in some stuff, like the acceleration going downhill and slowing down when going uphill. I think if I base it on an actual vehicle with invisible wheels, it would be EXTREM-damn how did that word get into my head?

*LOL*
I kinda repeated myself there...I'll leave it rather than editing it out.

I'll never understand why they can't just use past Sonic supporting characters instead of constantly creating newer and lamer ones. It just doesn't make sense.

I'll retrect some of my statement from before. Even though they've only announced 3 new characters and STK, you can clearly see Amy in one of the 4 player multiplayer shots, as well as the main game showing 8th place.

Since the birds are a team of 3, I wouldn't be surprised if we see the rest of the Sonic Heroes cast in there somewhere. Still, I'd love for them to reacknowledge long gone characters like Bean, bark, Mighty and Fang :\

But from the looks of it, it's not based on any kind of Mario Kart or Wipeout weapons system. No real weapons at all, except for one image where Tails clubs Knuckles with what looks like a huge plug? Maybe it's a more F-Zero "swipe" kind of game?

Good to see new character models, you can see what they were trying to say when they said extreme. Tracks look pretty good but why all the birds of they aren't going to fly? Why do all the other characters have sunglasses apart from Knuckles who actually had them in Adventure 2? Maybe this will be Trickstyle done well.

Not quite the shameless money-grabbing I'd imagined, the new models are a definite step in the right direction. Sonic has his tallness back that he had in SA2, which, frankly, looks much cooler than the chubby little short hedgehog seen elsewhere.

Shit, it actually looks nice. It looks like they're actually trying with this one. I don't understand why this looks so good from a graphical perspective and Shadow the Hedgehog looks so fucking shit.

I'm hoping it plays like a cross between Snowboard Kids and SSX, but...it probably won't.

Anyway, who's developing this sucker?

Looks good, but I really hate the character models. I wish Sega would totally revamp the Sonic Universe and approach it in a completely new direciton.

If this feels and plays a lot like GX, with a good ammount of challenge (I'm not expecting GX-difficulty.. and in a few cases, don't want it, heh), it could be one hell of a racing game.

More god damn furries for Belgurdo to touch himself over.

Jabs aside - I'm kind of interested because Sonic R rocked! SHUT YOUR F#CKING MOUTH! I said it rocks, thus it rocks. :P
