They're removing the "Network" moniker from the new line of mp3 players.
They say they'll be targeting Apple more directly now (Hey, They've got effort :lol)

This is one of the many they'll be releasing in the near future.

There will be 6GB and 20GB models sporting a variety of colors (violet, silver, pink and blue)
They'll also have OLED screens and a couple new features not found their previous user interfaces.

This seems like an answer to the mini, but it looks like sony's one step behind again with apple now releasing the nano.

Well, Sony is getting a bit closer. THeir stuff is looking better.

That OLED scren is probably pretty nice.

Does not sound to bad a price for 20 GB.

MP3-able?

or is it like other sony mp3 products, with the music match and the transcoding?

But both borrow from the iPod Suffle, bringing My Favourite Shuffle and Time Machine Shuffle options to the players' menus. The first randomly selects 100 songs from among the user's most frequently played tracks, while the second chooses a year then plays all the tracks released during that timeframe.

Jesus, Rio was so far ahead of it's time. RioDJ, did this and more on the karma, from day one, in 2003. RIP rio. =(

Sony MP3 players have been supporting MP3 without transcoding for a long while now.

This player looks pretty ugly to me. As i've said in that other thread, they should work on making the NWHD5 line smaller and even better looking (it looks great already)

When I see iPod nano, I see sex.

When I see Sony Walkman, I see plastic.
It's true. This player just looks cheap-o. They should either use the brushed metal like on NWHD5 or the type of acrylic they already use on PSP, same kind as on Ipod, actually.

OLED screens are pure sex but i dont like the body of this player one bit...looks like something id win at a fair, then throw away.

Not bad, but i'm sure the silver model looks better. i really wish they'd drop the rounded designs and go back to the more boxy designs with rounded edges.

Sony's best MP3 player design by far:

MP3 player? Agreed. But if you include their past, super-sucky, ATRAC3-only, DRMed players, you i'd give a slight nod to this:

IIRC, these were a bit larger than the iPod Shuffle, but you could use your own MS media with them (MagicGate only, but still).

Yeah, they were a classic design, I loved mine. Till I used SonicStage software that came with it ... :(

The 512MB small, flash version is 200 dollars. The 2GB is something like 290 dollars.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Sony did say that Sonicstage is now dead.

When/ where did you head this and what exactly does this mean for current users of SonicStage? I really hope this isn't true, since I've been recently using SonicStage more and more to play ATRAC music files on my 2.0 PSP.
