Anyone catch south park?

I thought it was pretty funny shit. Probably not as good as last week, but definitely i'm noticing a trend in south park episodes this season where they're good (3 of last 4) as opposed to the last half of the last season, where it was pretty much just awful (highlight being paris hilton).

"What is this? I thought this was America... I thought we lived in a free country?!"

Wait, you thought the Paris Hilton episode was bad? Prepare yourself for a lot of disagreement.

Anyway, tonight's episode was solid. I enjoyed the simple concept of how the kids hated playing baseball and were forced to do it by their parents. Also, really funny how the Denver team used their superior skills in order to lose.

no, i don't have a problem with the paris hilton one. I'm saying that was the highlight of the last 8 weeks of last season, the rest of it being total garbage.

OH. Sorry, I thought you meant that episode was the worst of it.

yeah, the paris hilton one was pretty awefull

I heard they also showed the Scott Tenerman episode tonight. That's awesome, they never show that one and it's my #1 favorite.

This one was pretty boring, like the hippie one, very run of the mill. Rocky spoofs? Come on, these guys can write better shit than that in their sleep.

As someone who hates baseball with a passion and loves the Rocky movies I thought this episode was one of the best ever. :)

I've been loving this whole season and this ep is hardly any exception. The little sub-plots from these new episodes are just too damn hilarious, Stan's dad is the fucking man! :lol

I thought it was one of the best since Rocky is my second favorite movie of all time. It was funny seeing Mickey telling him to get it up. :lol

Haha, Kyle's cousing is the funniest South Park character ever. My friend in school can do his Jewish accent really well and does prank calls with it all the time. Amazing.

Stereotyping jews is TERRRRRIBLE!! Do you have a dehumidifier? I've got asthma.

hahaha... I don't know if he's the greatest character ever, but he's definitely in the top 5. I've gotta give love to Butters and Towelie, too.

The funniest part of this episode (I watched it twice last nite, haha) is when they realize that the team is so good that they can be good and lose. When butters is waving to his parents in the stands, and the kid hits it right into his glove... priceless stuff. Anyone thats been to a little league baseball game can relate: it sucks playing outfield.

Somehow I missed this episode the first time around. Definitely the best so far this season. I was pretty unimpressed with the episodes leading up to it but this one's pretty close to "classic" status.

Good episode. I was impressed with how many times they managed to give new life to the "We have to suck more!" theme. That, and the Rocky stuff was just gold.

another really underrated part was when Stans mom was trying to tell Randy he's being stupid, and he flips on her "YOU WANT TO BREAK ME DOWN?! HUH?! IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?! WELL I'M SCARED!!! I'M SCARED!!!" :lol

Yeah that was great. Straight outta Rocky III. :lol

They could've pushed the Rocky parody a bit further by using more stuff from Rocky IV though (a "No Easy Way Out" musical montage in preparation for Bat dad would've been hillarious).

But they did get the Karate Kid music in there.

I can't stand South Park this season. For some reason I don't think it's anything new, but has the show always been this preachy? I know it annoyed me last season, but I'm losing interest now. I mean... preaching about transexuality (just as an example)? Forget that they made Mr. Garrison a woman/one-joke character, do they have to preach about it, too? God, make it stop. It's like Full House with racy subject matter. At the end of every episode, Stan (usually) gives a speech about whatever moral the writers side with, backed up by the 'Michelle learned a lesson' soundtrack. And last week's, 'This episode has been brought to you by the PSP, which was made by fucking god' stuff was painful. I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but I have it recorded in my DVR, and I'm in no hurry to see it.

Well it wasnt preachy right at the start, but it has been for a long time.

This episode wasnt preachy though, unless you consider saying Baseball sucks preaching.

Yeah man, that's the shit I appreciate. The little jokes that fit in between the big ones. Awesome stuff, really. Like last week in the heaven/psp one, where Michael was like "Yeah... for realzzz." Just seeing an angel say that made me laugh.

And Dragmire-- yes, it's always been this preachy.

when randy started singing your the best as he was kicking batdads ass i almost lost it.

Hm, I dunno, I think that sort of thing has been happening since the second or third season. Personally, I've always enjoyed how they show that something is complete bullshit, or take the really unpopular side for the hell of it. They're not intending for you to think "Oh well, maybe that's how I should think." ... it's just supposed to be funny.

Also, one of the bits of animation really impressed me. After Randy is walking around the stadium, goes back to the room and the angle they got on the door swinging was really cool.

Hahahaha, I just caught the repeat of this. SO GREAT. That little gimp jump at the end was priceless.

I also thought it was cool that they had Kenny without his hood on just there in this episode. Sure, he didn't say anything, but it was cool that he was there still. :)

Edit: Does anyone know the NAME of that Karate Kid song? It was so damn funny I thought that Matt or Trey had written it, but reading this thread tells me it's a real song...so anyone know the title?

"You're the Best" - Joe Esposito

It plays during the scene where the martial arts tournament starts and you get a montage of Daniel San and the Cobra's fighting their respective opponents.

:lol They took bits and pieces from Rocky 1, 3, and 5. 1 is obvious with the eggs, and going to the stadium by himself. 3 was when he told his wife that he was scared, and 5 when he was getting his ass handed to him by bat dad.
