so 3 people, 4 with me lost interest when heard that it is FPS, ha I thought I was the only one. Don't like FPS in general. never connect with the characters in the game, especially with the one you play as.
Yawn, what else is at VGA, this one goes under the rug
The comment about it being first person indicates there will not be a whole lot of shooting, if any at all. I like this.
The auto-translation is pretty much truth to the original. They basically say:
- Set in a near future
- Ants infection people. Some die. Some become zombie.
- Infection hits central america first, like texas and new mexico and then, after a hotbed in UK, they propragate to the rest of US (not sure I understand the dynamic here). US President declares allert status.
- Non-authorized experiments conducted in secret installations in south america are the cause of an infestation that hit vegetation first, and then ants.
- Infected ants are aggressive. See man as a menace.
- First person view
Disclaimer: I was not involved with the article at all
Amnesia sure was a shitty horror game because it was first person, right guys?
Indeed.Sounds like pure speculation for hits.
???
That seems like quite a leap to make (and unlikely, given industry trends) unless I'm missing something...
And Condemned too.
I didn't realise the perspective of a game was such a big deal to people
Sorry, that info is likely fake..I hope.. The article claims this is a grab from the trailer
http://www.4news.it/images/stories/games/sony/TheLastOfUs/20111208/the-last-of-us_pic002.jpg
I'm not aware of any major game reveal trailer that would knowingly use font that terrible, if they're claiming THAT is a grab from the trailer, then the entire article is confirmed fake. Sony would never use font that horribad in a reveal trailer...then again...
and here's the quote claiming thats a grab from the trailer
Does this sound completely underwhelming to anyone else? Given everything we've seen?
If you're questioning the authenticity of the article based on the font then I won't support you. But if they're claiming the picture is from the trailer, then it's a little suspect.
maybe it's just a big, hugely ambitious title from a studio that is super talented but doesn't normally make these kinds of games. One thing is puzzling me. If this is a brand new IP, why would it be so shocking and mind blowing? I mean it's new. Unless there is something else there.
Limited movement options.
"The view should be in first person, just to bring more intensity and emotion to the gameplay."
Killer ants huh? Sounds like shit
Umm movement? Dodge rolls, climbing and platforming, peering around without losing sight of what's on either side of your vision etc. I feel more like I'm in the world in third person because the peripheral view is closer to my own than fps's tunnel vision.I will never understand people's distaste for camera angles.
This is not the first time Naughty Dog is doing this, back in the Crash Bandicoot day Naughty Dog were very close with Insomniac Games and because of that there was a secret Spyro The Dragon demo on the same Crash 3 disc.
This has nothing to do with Naughty Dog if you ask me, so the clear answer is SSM.
just write what you know, don't be so enigmatic. we know that you know something.I wouldn't give much credit to that info to be honest. A lot of stuff just doesn't make sense.
And yeah, they say "probably" first person. Sorry.
I will never understand people's distaste for camera angles.
If you believe a game about zombies won't have combat in it, then I've got this fancy new bridge I'd like to sell youthe words "combat" and "shooter" should not even be in this thread. at all.
first person is a perspective nothing more. what if you play as a politician and the game is about speaking and controlling this? that'd be a nice change of pace.
There's just nothing you can point to in the industry and say "Ok this is how you do survival in a game" or "this is how you do fear in a game" without some kind of combat as a central gameplay mechanic.
Not saying it can't be done... just pointing out you're making quite a leap. Considering there's no precedent.
Awwwwwwwwwww- First person view
Sonds like something similar Resistance 4. Substitute zombies for aliens and modern military for WWII era. I hope I'm wrong.
Umm movement? Dodge rolls, climbing and platforming, peering around without losing sight of what's on either side of your vision etc. I feel more like I'm in the world in third person because the peripheral view is closer to my own than fps's tunnel vision.
But yes, if a dev can replicate my idea of a first person view for change, then I'm all for it. But if this is going to be industry standard, no thanks.
It really is completely ridiculous
Awwwwwwwwwww
There is a precedent. Clock Tower. Had very little combat, and worked out the concept of fear in a great way. You have to escape the scissorman. You can't fight or defeat him, and you also have to watch out for stage hazards. There's no combat system, just you trying to escape the place alive. Also, worth noting, that game still gives me nightmares to this day.
Another game that does survival in a pretty decent way without combat is Catherine, although that's a very different type of fear, obviously. You have the fear of dying, and the fear of your wife finding you're cheating on her.
So I guess people are really hooked on the idea of Sony Santa Monica being the devs. Were they really working on this and GoW4 at the same time? :3
