Sure the cards they were released with aren't a huge improvement over their older counterparts; but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the tech demos... Heee heee

why have they started putting stories in tech demos :-/

nothing that impressive, doesnt have anything on the Unreal 3 demo.

Unreal 3 demo eh? know where I can find it? (good quality vid is fine if I can't *crosses fingers* directly download it)

I'll be damned, it actually runs for me (the CryTek demo).

Here are some custom (you can pause and move the camera as you please) shots I snapped of it running on my 9700 Pro...

Have any other studios decided on using CryTek? Far Cry was impressive as hell and this is even more so. The engine is obviously VERY capable. It can handle MASSIVE maps with tons of variety, gobs of special effects and filters, a nice unified lighting model, huge outdoor areas with lots of foliage, etc. I don't think Source is a good choice for future games due to the seemingly small map size limitations (as seen in both Source games). Doom 3's engine obviously has purpose, but doesn't seem well suited to outdoor locales. CryTek has it all...

It looks great, but only runs between 10 and 20 fps. :\ Of course, if I disable AA and AF, it runs a lot better...but it loses that CG-ish look.

Color me stupid, but I swear I clicked the Crytek link and it took me to a page with Dangerous Curves and Fluid Flow.

The original poster mis-labeled them. Look at the actual URLs and it should be clear...

Ha ha, the Ruby demo also runs...but it has some serious issues. Most of the polygons are missing so you basically see a bike, a floating helmet, pieces of tunnel, and the enemies flying around a black screen. At one point, you only see Ruby's eyeballs floating around. Very creepy.

When it first starts, you see this all over the screen. It disappears in a few seconds, though...

Just picked this up. Ruby's face looks like an experession someone would make if their ass was slapped in the dark.

The Crytek one should run on your card.

Well, this thread is old now. :P

I already took shots and posted above. It also works on nVidia 6800 cards, but there are noticible glithces present (depth of field is screwy and the water does not work at all).

I know, same problems as the Far Cry demo on 6800 surprisingly. (Patch 1.3 is only for the full game).

Yes yes, but I felt bad starting a new thread to drool over tech demos so I brought an old one up... Maybe in a bit i'll start graphic thread which will really be a flex your GFX cards which will be an excuse for an all out 1200X1600 HIGH RESS AA/AF screen shot party.

Tee hee :D
