According the bloody-disgusting.com, most people are saying excellent things about the film so here's hoping that turns out to be true!

Word from early screenings of this one isn't looking too good though. Even people that loved the first one are coming out dissapointed, wondering where all that promise went.

Apparently the tape is mentioned in the first like five or ten minutes and then dropped completely from the movie, and they attempt to make Samara this sympathetic character rather than continuing the "she's just fucking evil as hell" line from the first.

Hmmm, contradicts what's being said on bloody disgusting...

"As I said before, word around the industry is that this film kicks some major arse- hopefully some reviews will begin popping up online in the near future."

"On the other side of the coin- the serious one, I'm hearing tremendous things about Dreamworks' The Ring Two under the wire and can't wait until March 18th to see this bad boy, directed by the original 'Ringu' genius Hideo Nakata."

Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Just the word I've heard from people that liked the first that have been privy to advanced screenings, not trying to indicate any industry-wide leanings on the issue. The latest trailer doesn't really excite me that much, it seems to have lost some of the "calmness" that gave the first movie alot of its character.

Not in the script I read. And judging by the trailer it was the script they shot. You do get to find out more about Samara (who her actual parents were, where she's from etc. ) but they make no apologies for her evil nature. She is still the female equivilent of Damien in the Omen. In fact Ring 2 is very much like Exorcist meets Omen
