Concept art indeed.

Would be nice if SK does have the modeling/texturing talent necessary to get that kind of feeling in-game using Unreal 3.

you need to be able to distinguish art from screens.

Looks quite nice except the red wall guy/ugly killzone solider copy.

SK still needs to work on characters it seems. In Eternal Darkness, they were fine with the environements (the temples, the cathedral), but their characters were hit and miss (mostly miss).

Let's take Ninja from MGS and merge him with Master Chief from Halo and throw him into God of War enviroments! YAY WE ARE THE MOST ORIGINAL DEVELOPERS IN THE WORLD! :D

god of war-comparisons?

thought Too human would be a Blade runner-style RPG/adventure..

They changed it up, though Dyack said it really isn't like God of War and that he didn't even make the comparison.

I hope it's more of an ARPG like Blood Omen, myself.

Erm did you even read the fucking article? I've just lost ALL interest in Too Human that I've built up over the years. (and there's quite a bit since the original idea fucking rocked.)

Too Human plants players in control of no ordinary main character, but as the god Balder. While exploring a mythical future past (whatever that means), Too Human will apparently immerse players in "sweeping, epic battles" amidst "oceans of organized enemies."

Creating lofty expectations right off the bat, Silicon Knights describes Too Human as "the Xbox 360's God of War." Stepping past comparisons, however, the developer confirms two-player Xbox Live co-operative gameplay is planned.

If anything, Too Human will be all but simplistic. "Too Human will immerse players in battles between cybernetic gods, machine giants, and mortal men on a scale never before seen," says producer Denis Dyack.

Imagine if they were really screens though. That would be pretty pretty.
Not really, I mean if those were screens, it would suck. They are nice, but empty.....So you are better of calling them concept art then screens...

"Too Human will immerse players in battles between cybernetic gods, machine giants, and mortal men on a scale never before seen,"

except in, sonic, house of the dead, 99 knights and kameo

I realize there is a lot of SK hate here (they burned Sony fans, then burned Nintendo fans) but damn I'm actually looking forward to this shit now. 2 Player co-op God of War style would kick serious ass. :O

Yes, I've read the fucking article. I've also read the response to the fucking article (he responded to this on the IGN boards).

"Hi Everyone,

Wow, what a few lines of print can do. Hehe, let me please set the record straight - Too Human is not a hack and slash or "God of War" clone. Too Human is anything but simple. As I have said recently, "smaller and simpler" is not our direction.

We have and will continue to build upon all we have learned working together with Miyamoto-san and Kojima-san into this latest work! We are very excited about this new collaboration with Microsoft and I cant wait to see what everyone thinks when we start talking more about it!

Has it changed? Oh yes it has. Has it been simplified into some clone - no not a chance. :)

Feel free to drop by the 360 boards for more active discussion on Too Human. :)

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Denis."

One poster asked, "I still have to wonder, of all the games out there, why you (SK) had to compare it to God of War. I mean, seriously."

DD responds:

"We didn't - that comparison was new to us too.

Denis."

I was also pissed off but mabye it isn't so bad after all. It's not the game it was but at least it's not a simple action game. Being a trilogy it's possible the original concept will still be used in one of the other games and somehow tie into this one.

I have never liked SK,I think they get alot of praise for never haveing a truly outstanding game. Yes they have original ideas, to bad they can't Implement them for shit. All their games have had terrible flaws. For a company that has only had really three games, and one was a remake and one was unplayable on playstation, they sure do get sucked off alot on this board.

Oh I see. Sorry I don't have Insider so I don't read the IGN boards.... It still sounds like backpeddling to me though, why would they show and say things they didn't mean? If they didn't I really doubt 1up would make it up from thin air. Sounds like they wanted mainstream-attracting PR and then backpeddle for "hardcores" on forums. Sad.

It would be cool if games on nextgen consoles could capture that concept art look
That would be a revolution

They are overrated for sure (due to fanboys pushing them for whatever system they are working on at the time)... but they have still made some decent games. Legacy of Kain is a personal favorite of mine, ED kinda sucked but I could see it's appeal to others, and Twin Snakes was pretty damn good imo.

It goes both ways. You have one group who blindly praises them while another is quick to bash any news / games that comes out of their studio.

It would help if DD would quit hyping shit up so early though... how long have we heard the name "Too Human"? Come on now.

I have to ask because I don't remember...how much credit should SK get for Twin Snakes? Did they do it wholly on their own or was it overseen by Kojima and company?

You'd be surprised at how often journalists misquote or outright make quotes up my friend. Sad, but true. Sometimes, you can't believe everything you read. That being said - I'm rather disappointed with SK and the fact that I'm not playing Too Human yet :/

.

Like I said good Ideas, they just suck at implementing them. Legacy of Kain is a prime example of this. The game was cool little arpg but the load times killed that game. ED good ideas(sanity effects), but they could have implemented this better as well. .

I liked Eternal Darkness a lot...Beat it three times just to get that special ending. Which hints at a sequel we may never see. I also enjoyed The Twin Snakes. I'm a huge MGS fan, but playing the original with all those jaggies, and ugly pixels floating around on screen wasn't too appealing...But The Twin Snakes let me get to the Shadow Moses incident again, with decent visuals, first-person, stylish new cutscenes, and stuff like that.

Now Too Human, I am actually looking forward to it. The concept art is nice...The main character looks generic, but I am looking forward to it.

wow this game has been in development for 8 years and SK have switched platforms more than 4 times. And people are still looking forward to it... I am just amazed. :lol

btw the art looks good

Yeah, they were near done the PSX version when they became Nintendo 2nd party.

They did the game wholly on their own. Kojima nodded and whatnot now and then, Miyamoto sat back and went "heh hmmmmm" now and then, while Kitamura directed all the cutscenes which were produced back in Japan.

Too Human is taking entirely too long to come out. I've been anticipating it since it was first shown in EGM so long ago. Then I hoped it would come out for GC and all we got out of that was Eternal Darkness. Good game mind you, but I always thought of Too Human and when it would be released.

I'm leary of the the game's premise, or the change thereof, but the fact that they're using UE3 makes me feel a lot better about the game. At the very least it should look spectacular. The only other nagging factor is that they were barely able to make decent software when it appeared that they were working on very few titles. But, not only are they working on a "trilogy" of titles for MS, they're working on a title for Sega as well. That does not bode well for their upcoming games.

Maybe MGS will fund some backup manpower as with the MistWalker, Game Republic and Q Entertainment projects?

The first picture listed here (1_big) is not concept art. It is a very old screen shot.

Enjoy,
Denis.

Did Denis really say that and if so where did you come across it?
