U2 have titled their tenth studio album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. The follow-up to 2000's Grammy-winning All That You Can't Leave Behind, which sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S., will be released November 23rd.

The foursome -- singer Bono, guitarist the Edge, bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. -- recorded the album over the past two years in its native Dublin and the South of France. Steve Lillywhite, who produced U2's first three albums, and former Sex Pistols producer Chris Thomas both worked on the album.

The first single from is "Vertigo," which should hit airwaves on September 24th. The album also includes the tracks "Full Metal Jacket" and "Tough," an homage to Bono's late father. U2 -- the top-grossing live act of 2001, thanks to their Elevation Tour -- plan to tour the U.S. next spring.

I have a feeling this title won't grow on me like All That You Can't Leave Behind. Yikes... But anyway, SOLD!

I've been hearing some good things about the new album, how it's a bit harder and more guitar based than the last one.

I only hope they put all that serious, third world debt stuff aside for this album, so it sounds a bit more like Achtung Baby and less like ATYCLB.

Let's hope so. Achtung Baby was pure genious.

yep, achtung baby was great overall. hell even "lemon" from zooropa was ok...but they turned so mushy after that.
hopefully this album will be more guitar driven and sound like their older stuff.

OMFG HOLY MOTHER OF MARY IN HEAVEN I CANT BELIEVE IT WTF WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES AAAAHHH
Achtung is their best album....but all their shit is soooo good. I've been a fan for years. Their material never gets old and ages quite well. The Unforgettable Fire is another album that was ahead of its time.

Until The End of the World is probably my favorite U2 song ever.

Anyone else overwhelmed with stuff to buy in November?

Before Sunset DVD
Collective Soul's "Youth"
Metal Gear Solid 3
Seinfeld Seasons 1-3
U2's "How to Dimantle an Atomic Bomb"

Damn that is all gonna cost a lot.

Same.

Still, I'll check this one out. U2 is pretty passionate about their music. I wouldn't put a return to glory past them.

With a name like "How to Dismantle and Atomic Bomb" and a song title like "Full Metal Jacket," do you really think that's likely?

I liked All That You Can't Leave Behind :(

I liked ATYCLB as well, don't get me wrong, but to me it's hard to listen to the entire album without skipping some songs, that's something I can't say for Achtung Baby, even with songs like So Cruel and Acrobat, which I recently started to like more.

Oh man, you didn't like Acrobat before? It's the best damn song on that entire album, IMO. From the intro, to the vocal delivery, to the sexy and dangerous sounding guitar...sonic perfection.

I liked it, but a long time ago I had a mentality that if the song wasn't a single or didn't have a video, I wouldn't listen to it that much.

BTW I just listened to "Vertigo" the new single, it's awesome sounding, guitar rock U2. It's far better than the poppy Beautiful Day as far as debut single goes, and the bass is killer.

I just heard Vertigo, great song!! Makes me look more forward to the new album than before.

Lyrics:

Uno, does, tres, catorce
(Turn it up loud, captain)

Lights go down it's dark
The jungle is your head
Can't rule your heart
I'm feeling so much stron-ger
Than I thought
Your eyes are wide
And though your soul
It can't be bought
Your mind can wander

Hello, hello (¡Hola!)
I'm at a place called Vertigo (¿Dónde está?)
It's everything I wish I didn't know
Except you gave me something
I can feel, feel

The night is full of holes
There's bullets ripping sky
Of ink with gold
They twinkle as the boys
Play rock and roll
They know that they can't dance
At least they know

I can't stand the beats
I'm asking for the check
The girl with crimson nails
Has Jesus around her neck
Swinging to the music
Swinging to the music

Hello, hello (¡Hola!)
I'm at a place called Vertigo (¿Dónde está?)
It's everything I wish I didn't know
But you give me something
I can feel, feel

(Checking it)
(Just fine)
(She'll make it)

All this, all of this can be yours
All of this, all of this can be yours
All this, all of this can be yours
Just give me what I want
And no one gets hurt

Hello, hello (¡Hola!)
We're at a place called Vertigo (¿Dónde está?)
Lights go down, and all I know
Is that you give me something
I can feel your love teaching me how
Your love is teaching me how
How to kneel, kneel

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

"Vertigo" has a very PIXIES vibe to it... and the lyrics are horrid... but it's better than I expected. I may pick the album up.
