New Xbox device coming in 2026, known as Xbox Prime

Well, MS did best with the 360 when they launched a year before PS3, so they might actually be going for it. Then again, they had the huge advantage of exclusives back then, which they won't have now as every game they get will also launch on the PS5.

So I don't know what the real point would be.

Leak image of the Xbox Prime console:

System requirement:
Minimum - Xbox Series X
Recommended - Xbox Prime
Optimal - PC RTX 5090

If any Xbox Next-gen game supports Series X then it must support Series S.

It's as simple as that.

If they could drop Series S support, then do it for the existing Series X.

Launching a new next-gen console changes nothing in this regard.

Xbox Prime just means IW is developing COD on Xbox as the lead console as they're owned by MS now. His source probably saw that on some dev document and assumed it was a new system.

I want the xbox Megatron, for fuck's sake.

There's speculation about the next xbox launching ahead of PS6, anyway. Who knows.

Either way I've skipped this gen and I'm skipping every MS console from now on, since everything is on a superior platform.

Well, if it is true, I'll go with HeisenbergFX4 where he said it'll be $1,000.

I just don't see that taking off with console gamers, not in this economy.

But maybe that's not their goal anymore. Just keeping a smattering in their ecosystem.

Assuming this is accurate, that name gives me a particular impression. That this device would not be a console in the traditional sense. I can't explain why. It's just a feeling I get from the name. I know there have been conversations about this very thing. I guess to me that name for some reason strengthens the idea. But I could be quite wrong.

A company without a plan trying to milk me into another console when their games can be found elsewhere.
Im good. Wont take the bait.

There can't be any "must support". That's why there is no Black Myth on Xbox. They should've dropped that mandate years ago.
They're merging Xbox and PC and cloud already, doing some type of multi device ecosystem thing, so as long as the dev clearly state what is needed then they must be allowed to support whatever they want. Otherwise it'll all fail because of the weakest device like now with Series S.
So if one dev want to skip all consoles and just want to have a PC version and a RTX 50-series requirement, then fine, do that. That's how it is on PC. Indiana Jones already have a hardware RT requirement on PC. It's okay.

I honestly don't understand why y'all want to see Xbox console fail.

A Sony monopoly in console landscape is an absolute nightmare for any consumer interested in console gaming.

I don't understand how you guys don't see this?? I don't even have an Xbox, I own a PS5, before I'm accused of console warring.

Thank God Nintendo exists. There's no rule that says there must be three consoles and considering ms is bringing many games to other platforms the need for Xbox hardware is less and less.

What a mess, so 6 variations in total?
And how many double/tripple dipped from new variations or limited editions etc? And then the RROD replacement program, were those counted as shipped too? I wonder who many actual unique real users the platform had.
I bought a Core, got a refurbished replacement twice, then a final rrod and then I bought an Elite.
I don't think those refurbished counted as sales but obviously many millions bought replacements while Microsoft denied any issues for a long time prior to "coming clean".

ya'll thinking about transformers when is actually about Logan Paul. 🤣😂

remember, Xbox is all about that cred the youth is seeking outside a dying market infested by old folks.

Cutting the generation short would destroy any last bits of fanbase they still have and hardware wise they wouldn't be able to make a better box than PS5 Pro. It's the same thing that killed Sega's consoles. And without Series S their sales numbers would've looked truly abysmal. Xbox is done, their best course of action is releasing games on Playstation which they're moving towards.
At this point it's better to do something than nothing at all. They can not wait. The fanbase won't wait. Many have already moved over to PC or PlayStation.

Pull the plug. Bounce back with something new and exciting. Premium console, handheld, launcher, anything.

If they drop being a platform holder and go full multiplat they will close studios left and right.

No store = no 30% cut on 3rd party games/dlc
No store = 30% lost on 1st party games
No platform = no online paywall fees
No platform = Decrease/death of Gamepass

All recouped by selling more games on PlayStation?
X for doubt

Yeah I know several people who just bought new ones and the extended warranty didn't last forever. I bought the Elite after a third hardware failure.

What is another expensive box gonna do for them? They can't make it more powerful than PS5 Pro without charging 1000 dollars. 20-30 million is Xbox's audience, they can't get anymore than that.

Why does it feel like every week there's a new "insider/leaker" who comes out with something and then tells you to "take it with a grain of salt".

Social media has made everyone too comfortable with pretending to have some sort of "super duper source".

He's been around for 4 years. He has guys like Tom Henderson following him. It's not bad to entertain this for a bit.

Nintendo is as much competition to Sony's console space, as Subway is to Mcdonalds.

Totally different market.

If Xbox Prime is real, hopefully it's just 1 SKU. It seems like they want this out sooner than later to get rid of the Series S and also start the countdown on Xbox Series obsolescence and wind down support faster than humanly possible.

Either that or it's a handheld, but that's not what Prime means to me. It will be the 5th generation of Xbox and 5 is a prime number.

PS5 pro is very underwhelming in terms of tech.

If you build a new box and release it next year, with specs that look forward, you will have a real next gen machine.

Whats another expensive box gonna do for Sony?

Maybe it's just a new Optimus Prime Transformers X Collaboration like PSOne and Megatron Megadrive.

This will probably sell more units.

Can't wait to see those who told us that consoles are the past to turn around and tell us that they're in fact the future of gaming.

Fall 2026 seems right for full on cloud device. They will still release a console but I'm betting this would be a dedicated lower cost device for cloud streaming. $99.99
