Hey guys,

I'm planning to build a PC for my brother. He wants a card that will run games like UT 2K7 and other next gen games, will a card like a X850XT or a 6800Ultra run the engine? has there been any specs released for requirement on the next gen engines?

if he wants a computer that can run ut2007 he shouldnt buy it now

wait until the new ati cards and crossfire is out and see what nvidia will release then..

You need a SM 3.0 card so you are safe with the GF6800u but you will need to upgrade to an ATI R520 or better since I don't believe the Radeon X850XT supports SM 3.0

A Geforce 7800 would be the best bet, you want the highest end possible for that engine. I think the most important thing is to make sure the card supports Shader Model 3.0 which the X850 unfortunately does not.

Yeah, don't get anything under a 7800 GT for UT2K7 - That card will set you back at least $400 but that's the price you're going to pay if you want to play a game which is the most demanding engine around... (and still has some time to go before it's released!)

I would wait until ATi brings out all their cards though (end of OCtober) because is the new ATi card is the powerhouse some people have beentalking out, it will surely make those prices drop by 20% or so.

See that the thing a 7800GTX will cost nearly 700$CAD After taxes. and I'm able to get a X850XT for about 340$USD full retail pack. So thats a huge difference in price. we already bought a A64 4400+ which set us back nearly $1,000CAD + motherboard and another 300$USD for some 2GB of highend ram. we have a budget of 2000$CAD and basically we've spent 75% of that budget, is there any 3rd party producer of the 7800GT or GTX ?
