I will pay $70 for a Naughty Dog game no matter if Microsoft is giving the games for free, I'm paying for quality, which Microsoft can have obviously, but if the numbers go wrong and MS needs to cut the budget for games, because what sells game pass is "300 games for 15" or "exclusives every3 months for free", then no thanks, happily paying for my 40Hours game with top-notch graphics, gameplay, animation, and story.

Strictly made for my hardware and all its capabilities. There is a reason why MMO on mobile look currently better than the majority of MMO for PC, every time you tried to cover all gamers, including the ones without the right hardware because you need the subscription, something, something, goes wrong.
this is your opinion that doesn't work for me

See ya this saturday for probably the first trailer for multiplayer mode (and hopefully a sweet PS5 upgrade)

Unbelievable. Since this game came out, more people have died of flu's, etc. NOW all of a sudden it's insensitive to remind people that people die from sickness? I just....whatever. I mean, it doesn't affect me...just seems...unnecessary. And yes, I know people, have people in my family that have died from Covid-19 so don't go there. Maybe it helps that my situation was due to a State government that literally put infected people into a nursing home...where it was free to attack those most vulnerable to this bug but still... I'm just done with everything on Twitter dictating what companies and organizations do, I guess.

If you cannot find anything good to watch on Netflix, you might as well stop subscribing to anything at all. Or you should learn to search better. Or maybe stop being disingenuous. At this point you're already trying too hard.

I get paid to stir the pot here. It's called engagement. It helps drive traffic, and keep eyeballs here. I have no vested interest in the argument.

Joking!

Halo Infinite is a 10-year game, they are putting more money into it, but they are not trying to make a new Halo with world-class graphics in another 5 years... This is your first evidence of the Gamepass strategy.
They've reportedly spent 100's of millions making Halo Infinite and they say it's bigger than Halo 4 and 5 combined campaign wise.

343i failed at making it graphically impressive.. but if the above is evidence of the "Gamepass strategy" than their strategy is to make massive hugely expensive games with large singleplayer campaigns apparently. Great argument!

So... even with fewer units available, XSX preorder taking a lot longer to go out of stock.

Xbox doing everything they can to pull me into their ecosystem by offering gamepass, buying publishers left and right, being pro consumer and playing mind fuckry by using buzz words.

Ragnarok is coming 2021

¿For how many years?

And As I previously said, things will go bad if the numbers go wrong, if gamepass is sustainable with the current AAA budget, there is nothing to worry about.

"across both consoles"? I knew he was instrumental in the PS5's architecture, but was unaware he also worked on Xbox applications. Does anyone know what exactly he was responsible for?

It's also taken Netflix a long time and 10X+ the number of monthly subs while operating in the red due to how they license and produce content.

Game Pass is a great deal and will likely be a huge success for MS. There's also a good chance it will quickly become Xbox's only source of revenue. Those $100m+ AAA dev costs will need to come from somewhere or else we'll be seeing A and AA games with the occasional AAA game.

MS has $150 billion war chest in reserves they don't need to worry about pocket change $100m.... :messenger_grinning_smiling: :messenger_grinning_smiling:
Seriously I just realised how absolutely insufferable debating anything with Xbox diehards will become because of that $7.5bn buyout. It's like the 'MS War Chest' wet dream/nightmare come to fruition at long, long last. So now all debates about gaming costs will end with 'MS has the money to do it they spent several billion buying ZeniMax'.

Any reasonable debate stops stone dead if one person's POV is that Xbox exists apart from all logic and business sense going forward. You won't be able to say anything because of the money!

Excellent analysis. Now I understand why Netflix produces so much crap. The psychology makes sense. You're never owning the product, and Netflix knows this, and they just want to have a huge catalog, even though it's such garbage.

There no incentive to take time to hire quality writers, directors, and actors.

Netflix produced 371 new TV shows and movies in 2019. What a joke.

Here is the saddest thing, you have so many Xbox fans arguing that Game Pass is such a good deal (Such great value!). They never mention particular games, but mention the number of games you're getting for the price.

You think those advocates are bad now, they will be far worse as time goes on, simply because the number of games on Game Pass will increase greatly over time.

This reminds me of the shovelware they used to include on disks for gaming magazines. Lots of questionable value.

To add to this, even if this model still had the potential to produce a decent amount of quality material, it isn't for me regardless because the way I consume content has changed as I've grown older.

Unless it's something I've been looking forward to or an established IP I'm already vested in, I simply don't have time to spin the wheel and take the chance on random games, shows or movies to see if it's going to be good.

Game and TV time is a precious commodity, so while I may occasionally throw on something completely random, for the most part I've only got time for quality bangers with the occasional guilty pleasure.

A problem with gaming now is that so few games get most of the playtime. These companies are competing for eyeballs. Not just in the video game arena but in entertainment in general.

Gaming has grown to the point games can challenge movies and tv(and in cost). And as revenue sources move from less traditional methods and microtransactions and subs become ever more used the need for engagement grows.

Engagement leads to netflix having a few big attractions and lots of filler because they want to keep you watching.

In gaming the actual time spent gaming has been dominated by a few juggernauts while every other title fights to get customers to spend 10 hours of playtime if ur lucky.

It puts a lot of pressure on these companies to not miss with a game. That doesnt help risk taking at all. Subscription models kind of take that fear away a little bit. Not everything is riding on that next ip. Be it a movie, series, or game, even if its not great you have a steady income source.

If Microsoft bought sega, id say sony is in deep, deep trouble. The Zenimax purchase alone has tremendous Implications. But a one two punch just like that? Insanity. In some ways sony has no one to blame but themselves. They couldve owned square soft back in the day and let fromsoft ware slip through their hands too.

They literally said it was a long term game. He's not making it up.

"Jumping into a time machine to 2015, 343 embarked on building the successor to Halo 5. Referred to initially as Halo 6, the company was going for a rebuild of nearly everything Halo. They were building a new game engine called Slip Space and the team was laying the foundation to build a launch title of the next-generation Xbox, the series X."

"Halo Infinite is the start of our platform for the future," he said. "We want Infinite to grow over time, versus going to those numbered titles and having all that segmentation that we had before. It's really about creating Halo Infinite as the start of the next ten years for Halo and then building that as we go with our fans and community."

🙂 I don't make things up...

Am I the only one who doesn't want 4K60?

I get the impression that 4K60 is something reserved for cross-gen padding before we get to the real meat of the generation. I want games that look so graphically ahead of last gen that they even struggle to hit 4K30. Or even better, just drop it down to 1440p and give me some eye-candy.

Right now I'm taking '4K60' to mean "not really next-gen" - that applies to both consoles.

4K60 IS next-gen, when it comes to consoles.

just the idea no development.

just read it again. doesn't mean 10 years spent in development.

You don't build a game for the next ten years and just have an "idea" of what is going to happen, they want Infinite to have everything previous Halo have had, great story, great multiplayer, they are trying to recover the game and put it to the glory again, and while doing that creating a platform that allows them to upgrade the game without second releases, etc, etc...

It means they are not trying to make a new game for 2025 with the graphics of 2025, they want this Halo to grow over time,

A la World of Warcraft...

I'm in the same boat. Definitely getting a PS5, but with everything Microsoft is doing I may pick up a Series X as well. Series X for Game Pass and PS5 Digital for exclusives. Also, I need a new TV. Gonna be a pricey next couple of months.

this is a example that Sony is ripping off people with a $70 remaster. This a brand new game for less.

I disagree. In my country this game is priced at €70 on Amazon for every platform. And we are talking CDPR, a company that has always embraced the idea that games should not have copyright protection systems and usually are priced lower than market standards.

still not a remaster

Such horshit. How can one of the most successful publishers of AAA single player games be worried about the future? Aren't all of their games GOTY winners/contenders and sell million of units each time?
Games are becoming more expensive, more of a risk for share holders, so makes sense, unless u get a surprise hit like fall guys or something, gambling on a 100m game like anthem, to be a flop, this bad business from a share holders PoV
Dude, it's BETHESDA. If the owners of Elder Scrolls, Doom and Fallout are worried about the future of their company, the industry is in deep shit.

Yep. Same here. I'll probably buy a Series X once they put out a game I want to play on it. Missed the pre order, but then their launch line up is pretty bad, so happy to hold off until the right game comes along.
