Must admit, a little miffed at all the little problems xbox series x and PS5 are having. Black screens, reboots, artifacting, crashing. Don't recall the previous gen doing this, seemed more stable.
Somehow, I don't feel as bad I don't have one. Hopefully they iron out these kinks asap.

The Card’s ability totally depends on the devs. If they didn’t utilize it, then nothing would happen.
I have been thinking that lately because of what is happening graphically with SX and PS5.
In general to my understanding there are in SX real problems being able to use 12-14 CU per shader array and Shared Memory problems. Due to bandwidth problems, cache hits and I don't think it's a question of the dev kit. Something could be solved but in general I think it will be complicated and we will have to optimize case by case.
However, I also think that these additional CUs will work for mathematical calculations without exporting textures on SX.
In other words, graphically we are observing SX: 40 CU x 64 shaders x 2 OPS x 1825 MHz = 9,344 TF of graphic power and 12 CU x 64 shaders x 2 OPS x 1825 MHz = 2,803 TF FP32 or 5,606 TF FP16 to execute the DLSS AI (not dev yet). They could also be used to execute RT but only ray calculation they do not have bandwidth to store textures and make HIT in the caches, that is, they do not serve for RT reflection only GI with temporal ray count.
I think SX is developing its DLSS and sony has opted for temporary injection. The two ways to achieve this are impressive and I can't tell who will win. Since MS will have to rescale from a lower resolution to 4k with its DLSS and the other will do it from a higher resolution with temporary injection. Not to mention that MS DLSS should be quite in its infancy even and by the time they can include it it will be too late.
Bottom line: MS is a good machine but the stupid MS have done terrible marketing and haven't finished one of their main design functions for launch, which coupled with the stupid marketing has ended up by simply trashing their own console themselves.
Who runs MS marketing? I already remember the same people who have carried out the campaign so toxic this generation. Umm, I'm not surprised.
What do you think geordiemp ????
Volume is perfect and high enough at full (I always go full), but compared to my previews experience on Astro A40+Mixamp it feels muffled
They swapped the logic. The card screen is the old setting sidebar on steroids. Sony really puts the Activity feature under spotlight for better or worse.Id like to have them removed as the first option when press the PS butto. Its annoying when i want to turn the comsole off or check the other options. PS4 got me use to holding down the PS to go to the settings....anyone know if this can be changed now?
You're damaging your hearing!!!
By the time you're fifty, you're going to have very serious hearing problems.
Sounds to me you might already have problems with hearing if you have to set it to max.
I had a roommate years ago, who listened to music all the time at max volume via headsets, and that guy was really annoying. He would not hear things correctly, and you would have repeat yourself a lot, that it got to the point, I found the effort to communicate with him was too much, and avoided having conversations with him. I'm sure he's in his own silent world now.
I try to avoid using a headset as much as possible.
We suffer enough decline in hearing as we get older, that you should do what ever it takes to protect it.

Arm chair dev?Don't be a armchair warrior dude. The fact you are getting all up in arms about it, proves him turning off comments makes sense.
120hz mode PS5 sails due to higher GPU clocks. With ray-tracing mode enabled, PS5 dips in three scenes compared to Series X holding steady. Not really a big deal but it's always life or death in console wars. Could be patched I suppose, but maybe not.So today the tools works .... well except in one mode in that day the tools didn't work.
I know that perfectly could be the reason, treyarch should put a more aggressive dynamic resolution for those specific moments in120hz mode PS5 sails due to higher GPU clocks. So Series X is slightly ahead in certain cutscenes with RT enabled and PS5 is ahead in certain missions at 120 FPS mode !
you do realize that they said the Series S version looks like a last gen version right?Great showing all around, even on Series S! I may just have to pick up my first CoD since Ghosts.
Also interesting, when XSX outperforms in RT mode, everything makes sense. While PS5 performs better in 120FPS mode, it suddenly "strange" to them. Smells of presupposition to me.Notice how Tom says PS5 dropping 8 frames is "massive" but then says the XSX dropping 20 frames down to like 100 FPS is not very noticeable. "The numbers exaggerate the difference" lol.
Their hypocrisy is staggering.
DF logic - "dropping from 60 to 50 FPS is way worse than dropping from 120 to 100 FPS"
Not if the user has intentionally selected the 120 FPS mode because they care about a very high frame rate and have a 120 Hz display. They're forgoing the RT mode in order to have the smoothest performance possible.
When PS5 dips, DF say "massive" but when Xbox dips DF say "its not a big deal, no one cares." Hilarious.

I agree with you and them too that in theory a drop from 60 to 50 is more noticeable.I do not have a Series X any longer have been playing totally on my PS5.
That said I couldnt agree more that I "feel" the drop from 60 to 50 a lot more then the drop from 120 tom 100.
But I get what you are implying trust me.

Whats telling is that Digital Foundry were the only non-Microsoft employees trusted to be shown the Series S before it launched. What's become clear to me is that Digital Foundry thinks the XBox Series X is more powerful than the PS5.
This became clear when they said as much a half dozen times lol
Sometimes people can just be..., wrong.. it doesn't have to be a shilling conspiracy.

True. It's somehow about API this, that, and the other thing. If that's the case, than maybe in those areas PS5 could be improved with a patch. Gonna be real interesting once COD moves away from cross-gen support.I know that perfectly could be the reason, treyarch should put a more aggressive dynamic resolution for those specific moments in
campaign or at least check why this happens, when a regular gameplay works perfectly.
But I was just making fun when now PS5 behaves in RT in a worse way than XSX DF forget the argument that the API is so bad that
the XSX performs worse in general.
I must have missed it, listening while I work.
I just remembering John and Thomas both saying it looked pretty good, resolution was targeting 1440p with drops to 1200p frame rates held up.
Now I want to see the video of Watch Dogs Legion.True. It's somehow about API this, that, and the other thing. If that's the case, than maybe in those areas PS5 could be improved with a patch. Gonna be real interesting once COD moves away from cross-gen support.
Has DF tweeted yet that they’re going to reach out on the behalf of Sony to see if there’s a patch to sure up some of those anomalies and the retest after patch? Or is that only reserved for Microsoft? I’m trying to keep up with the objective nonpartisan line of thought.

Wow, no one is saying anything about the tool now, interesting.

I gave an extreme example of Bayonetta PS3 last time, but it really didn't take long to see how differently the complementary situation gets handled.Has DF tweeted yet that they’re going to reach out on the behalf of Sony to see if there’s a patch to sure up some of those anomalies and the retest after patch? Hold the power button. So uh. My PS5 is 5 days old and it has crashed a few times on COD:CW but now it crashed on Spiderman MM. The controller stopped working, the view in the game slowly spun around until it froze completely. Was unable to turn it off with either the controller or the power button on the console itself. After a few minutes it shut off and now it won't turn back on. No beeps. No nothing.
Anything I can do or is it bricked?!

I would unplug and hold down the power button for 5 secs while unplugged to discharge any residual power, and then try again. If you get any improvement try and get it to enter safe mode by holding down power button until double beep - then release. In safe mode reinstalling the latest firmware from download - to usb stick from PC download - should be able to fix it, if it is a software issue. So uh.
