That is the way in how you make a showcase for the next gen graphic and not what happened the last week.

Just the confirmation SSD speeds did increase graphic fidelity/details.
But but but Cerny lied.
Youtube is terrible with compression, especially at high resolutions. Better than a phone, but still definitely not the real thing.
I hope some outlet gives a download option for the original video sent to press by Epic.
Running on a PS5. We didn't even saw that s**t and we saw all the insides of a SX, but for running software we have real time vs a-PC-in-what-is-supossed-to-move-the-X.I guess the real killer in this sittuation is 'real time hardware'.
It probably will be.I want this to be a game!
It probably will be.
There was a thread from a gaffer that made it very clear, but yeah, terrible comunication from Sony until 30 minutes ago. Most people didnt know how the SSD contritubtes to INCREASE in graphic fidelity/details. This was not explained properly by Mark with no tech demo to visualize. This demo clearly does. I wish Sony would have done it earlier.

there's a reason they chose the PS5 to show this game off, that amazing fast travel sequence towards the end will not be possible on Series X or high end PC's, if it is you'll see a bogged down version with less details.
We have no clue if this demo actually required a PS5 SSD as they didn't state that.there's a reason they chose the PS5 to show this game off, that amazing fast travel sequence towards the end will not be possible on Series X or high end PC's, if it is you'll see a bogged down version with less details.

Yes they heavily praised the PS5..."Sony is pioneering here with the PlayStation 5 architecture. It's got a God-tier storage system which is pretty far ahead of PCs, bon(?) a high-end PC with an SSD and especially with NVMe, you get awesome performance too."
Assuming bon meant but, having as SSD makes it have solid performance, and NVMe should make it be next level. NVMe is what both XSX and PS5
"So, when GPU load gets high we can lower the screen resolution a bit and then we can adapt to that. In the demo we actually did use dynamic resolution, although it ends up rendering at about 1440p most of the time."
Penwarden also confirms that the temporal accumulation system seen in Unreal Engine 4 - which essentially adds detail from prior frames to increase resolution in the current one - is also used in UE5 and in this demo. The transparency here from Epic is impressive. We've spent a long time poring over a range of 3840x2160 uncompressed PNG screenshots supplied by the firm. They defy pixel-counting, with resolution as a metric pretty much as meaningless as it is for, say, a Blu-ray movie.
who needs ray tracing when you already have multi bounce global illumination. What I find a bit weird is that there was not a single mention of raytracing![]()
Yes they heavily praised the PS5...
They did not specifically claim this tech demo is only possible on PS5.
I feel like if that was true... they would have just said so. I imagine this demo was built on PCs like everything else Epic does.

I'm agreeing with you, read my post, lol If bon is a typo of but, then all you need as an [Sata] SSD, and an NVME SSD makes it baller. NVME being what PS5 and XSX use.
Guys, this is running in the weakest platform of the generation!! Exciting times ahead. I can't wait to get my hands over the PS5 until I crush it between my fingers out of pure excitement, and then purchase a functionall one.
The demo showcase was also made available by Epic on Vimeo, which generally has much better compression rates than YouTube.
Ssd does not render graphics. Exact same demo could be done on pc with a standard hdd. It would just need adequate ram.All those polygons are the result of the SSD removing a bottleneck. That level of density isn't possible in real-time with a HDD.
The idea that an SSD makes graphics better has been scoffed at for ages, but there are scenarios where it allows for more when the horsepower is available.. Time for some crow naysayers.
"Nanite allowed the artists to build a scene with geometric complexity that would have been impossible before, there are tens of billions of triangles in that scene and we couldn't simply have them all in memory at once and what we end up needing to do is streaming in triangles as the camera moves around the environment and the I/O capabilities of the PS5 are what allow us to achieve that level of realism."We have no clue if this demo actually required a PS5 SSD as they didn't state that.
Yeah I gotcha, we on the same page here.I'm agreeing with you, read my post, lol If bon is a typo of but, then all you need as an [Sata] SSD, and an NVME SSD makes it baller. NVME being what PS5 and XSX use.
I know this forum is tense as hell rn, <3 to all

Only hit 1440p/30fps, I don't mind less than 4k and using reconstruction but 60 fps is my dream for the majority of next-gen games.
I'LL CRUSH THAT LITTLE SHIT TOO!!Imagine your hands on that plump Dual Sense controller, bathing in these beautiful graphics.... oh yes, bring it on!![]()

Well there's a reason why Sweeney himself said: "As for Microsoft's Xbox Series X, Sweeney isn't saying the new Xbox won't be able to achieve something similar; both are using custom SSDs that promise blazing speeds."
If you want 60fps then you have to build an expensive PC. Unfortunately, as powerful as these consoles get. Devs will always prefer to push the envelope with regards to visual fidelity than pure performance. For masses, better looking visuals are a bigger deal than more frames.
They said it not me lolDamage control by who? Sweeney for Xbox? Yeah sureYou're delusional if you think that demo isn't able to run on a PC with a decent SSD or XSX.

Hopefully it won't take too long to see, going to be incredible. The Forza vs. GT comparisons this gen are going to be "look at this photorealistic image vs. this other photo realistic image"Unless it's a shooter or racing game console devs tend to go for higher image quality than framerate, so 30fps it is. I can't fucking imagine what Polyphony Digital will bring to the table.

[...]These graphics are going to come at a cost, but I'm fine with games running at 1440p[...]
because there is a difference between streaming in 2.4 GB/s (Series X) of data vs streaming in 5.5 GB/s (PS5), that's double the I/O. The devs could pull it of on Series X but they'll need to a lot workarounds and tricks with the data streaming where as the PS5 would be able to handle it on the hardware level. We already heard so many people say the PS5 will able to pull of games which just won't be possible on Series X and PC's. This is just good speculation on part and it makes sense, but we'll have to wait and see I guess.and you know this how?
PC's with ultra fast SSD? yeah they should do.Ill give you that it may not be possible on XsX because of its slower hard drive (I think it is highly possible), but saying its not possible on PC? Uhh.......
From the DF article:
These graphics are going to come at a cost, but I'm fine with games running at 1440pif they look like this:(2491 × 1400)
