Of course, doing expectation management for PS5 as always, such a noble cause..

Apparently following translation, the PS5 runs silent and at a temperature of 30 degrees after 2 hours. 🤔

Well, asked myself who playing games in a room with 30 C. LOL
But good to hear it is silent in that warm room.

Anyway, it was warm because studios lights

Pretty clear this was aimed to the Japanese audience and not to us. But hey, we got to see the real console, some loading times and some ray tracing on DMC V. Hopefully Sony will release something for the rest of us this week.

Alex Battaglia once again is downplaying the PS5 GPU, not surprised, he is the only problem I have at Digital Foundry to be honest.

Beyond all the stupid jokes and memes, it really sounds like it's a "Battaglia problem" more than a Digital Foundry problem.

This guy is so frustrated, when he should be so happy with his new shiny 3080 which totally brings the PS5 into the freaking ground.

To recap:

- Near instant loading as stated (1s reload upon death in Astro and Godfall)
- Console looks much smaller than we thought
- Console remains silent and cool in 30 degree temperature
- Ray tracing in DMC SE has been improved
- Astro is GOTY

Was there any comment in cold boot times? How long to load a game (not load a save)?

There are a Lot of good stuff so for me it was totally worth It.

- Astrobots shows Ds5motion is super responsive. Really Hope devs explore It.

- instant loadings after You die like in Godfall

-Godfall looks beautiful and also seems to have Very good performance.

- RT reflections and lighting are really Nice in DMC. Much better than what I've seen in Control on PC tbh.

- Console looks way smaller than many fale renders suggested and It actually looks beautiful live

When it becomes GAME OVER or when switching maps, it can be restarted in a few seconds or the map is switched, and when restarting or switching stages it takes about 1 minute to load, so when playing I think that thinking will change.

this comes from that Japanese preview/hands on article

Many do play at 30C or warmer temps

Like countries that dont commonly have air condition (places with short summer and long winter, so air con would be useless or too expensive because they are not common)

On my old apartment at Finnish summer temps that reach around 20-35C outiside combined with direct sunlight from morning till evening and no real night for months, my 1 room apartment reached 38-39C and even at night temps usually were 30-35C on hot days. AKA hell hole.

Moved this summer to bigger apartment made in 2020 (two rooms) with windows on two sides of the building and saw around 28C worst. So this probably reaches 30C too on hottest days.

Places that reach 40-50C outside + no air con = must be like sauna inside :messenger_beaming:

Exactly man, Digital Foundry is a perfect analysis YouTube channel but man, Alex Battaglia can get really delusional.

He said he was impressed because the room was hot due to the lights in the studio room, but the PS5 was very quiet as he played Godfall & Astro for over 1 hour and 20 mins.

He said the loading is impressive but the lack of fan noise is more shocking. And knew many would want to know if its noisy.

So I guess somebody has to ask the question: Where exactly did they measure the temp of the PS5?
did they read out the console? What part has been measured. What tool has been used. Has it been measured during gameplay or during a menu or on the homescreen. If it was one of the latter ones, how long after gameplay has the measurement been taken?

Just such a weird open for interpretation statement. I mean it doesnt really matter as long as it doesnt run at above 90°C constantly (looking at you macbook) and is silent while doing so.

problem with DMC5 is outside that city mission the environments were dull as hell if i remember right. i remember being in pink gooey tunnels for ages!

In addition, 4 colors on Dualsense : blue, read, green, violet
Probably 1-4 tiny lights below touchpad are showing which player number it is.

One thing I really like about the PS5 is that Sony did not cheap out on LEDs. It would have been really disappointing if they had, for instance painted the inside of the fans blue to give the impression of lights instead of just spending 10 cents per console to put in real LEDs.

And there we have it. Impressed by LEDs? Using LEDs to still have a slight dig at the competition?

Putting my Sherlock hat on, I would say you are 12 years old, maybe young teen? Explains an awful awful lot.

Meanwhile, adults appreciate the fact that there aren't gaudy coloured lights everywhere.

Although having said that, they are probably still the least offensive thing about the PS5 form and factor.
