I want more SHOOTOUTS. It seems there's hardly any of this, because I'm always flying a plane, or driving a car from point A to point B. There should only be more shootouts and firefights only if the aiming and the guns were upgraded. You should be able to throw your weapon to trade for others, and not carry 10 different ones at a time. I say, 4 at max. You should be able to shoot guns out of people's hands, make them suffer by shooting them and they'd fall to the ground, blood spewing out crying for help, instead of just dying.
And MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, I WANT
RAG-DOLL PHYSICS.
Weird, I felt that SA focused WAY too much on the firefights. I liked them at first, but after a while it just got a little old. Since the enemies pretty much just stand there and shoot at you, all of the shootout missions (except for the one involving the fake casino chips) could be done by just inching forward, locking on, and cycling through the stationary targets and blowing them away. It seemed to me that there were a lot less driving parts in the main missions, and more on-foot shooting. Heck, even the
that was built up to for a good chunk of the game just boiled down to one big gunfight, followed by a completely unopposed drive back to base.
Another thing that really bugged me about SA compared to GTA3 (never played Vice), was the heavier emphasis on scripted paths and missions. There were too many spots where a target was inexplicably invincible until a certain part, or where you're forced into going a specific route, like in the last mission.
While I like the fact that money actually did something in SA, practically every property you bought was just an extra save spot. I remember when I finally bought my first property in LS, expecting to at least have an extra spawn for the spray paint so I wouldn't have to drive all the way back to CJ's every time I died or got busted.
It'd be nice to use the money to have more of a sim aspect to the game. Like you could pay some courier service to go around to your assets and pick up the cash they generate. Then the couriers could be attacked by rival gangs or something, so that you would either have to protect them yourself, or pay them more for better security.
Gang wars, while a neat idea, ended up being pretty basic in practice. Aside from the fact that it's an absolute pain to find enemy gang members to kill to start the war in the first place, the fact that it was just a swarm of them running at you made them really easy once you got your AK skill to hitman, and it got pretty repetitive after a while. If anything, each zone should have had its own objective that would change control of it to another gang. Maybe a few zones could have had a crack house that you had to clean out to own the territory, and another could have had you pressuring business owners in the area to pay your gang for "protection" or something.
Also, a little more order to the way you could take over territory would have been neat. Make it so that you can only take territory on the edge of the enemy turf, and you have to work your way in. Heck, they could even have a headquarters of sorts that you could try and take out to completely eliminiate the gang presence entirely, or at least severely weaken it in their other territories.
