Ah, the feeling of a new system is great (and a great surprise as well, here in Europe it was supposes to come Friday and shop told me when I preordered it that it could not be there until monday or tuesday).

MS are making it worser for early adopters as retailers lose confidence. The PSP and DS launches were handled well but this is a joke.

So let me get this straight..someone in Europe is getting a 360 before me who lives in America. Now tell me what's wrong with this picture?

Well, almost, I wasn´t able to buy any game ;). I wanted to buy Kameo, but they just can gave me the offer of buying the system and getting PDO/Kameo/DOA 4 for half their prize at friday 2 (I suppose that with DOA they dropped the ball).

There was just Gun, Call of Duty 2 and Tony Hawk for sale. I almost bought Gun to have something to play, but I need to test the system on my LCD to know if I have to buy a new one or not, so I would like something to test the graphics, so Gun and Tony Hawk were a no, and I don´t want to touch a FPS in some weeks (today I finished a FEAR walkthrough and I´m exhausted of the genre).

Actually, I have to finish tonight a big feature for a mag and friday I have a small exam, so maybe is not as bad to wait ;), meawhile I hope I can test enough the system for knowing what my actual TV is capable or not.

Very few units, all customers they called said they will get there at the moment (2 hours until the close), all preorders were covered, but barely. So people with no preorder are up for a hard time to get one.

Let´s see what this baby can do without games... maybe I test Fable

One store in Finland broke the street date as well and mailed the Xboxen earlier this week. I should get mine in about 26 hours. Worldwide launchment am greatness total.
 
Well, it was fast: no HD for me in my actual LCD...

Curious that Sony is going to sell one of his bravias thanks to Microsoft :P
 
I rarely buy from stores nowadays, but when I preorder in the UK on Amazon it always arrives on the actual release date, even without next day delivery. So, presumably they send it off a few days beforehand; it happened when I preordered the DS (with Mario 64, which was sold out in stores) and more recently with Mario Kart DS.

EDIT: I suppose its a combination of an efficient postal service, and the fact that Britain is a smaller country than the US.

Quite a bit actually, it was 4 hrs before I even played a game. Setup was seamless and the whole thing was quite amazing. I've had few experiences that just work out of the gate like that. In 15 minutes I had setup live and my connection to my computer and was running slide shows, playing music with the cool visualizer and downloading movie trailers and game demos.

You could download the Kameo (not a good demo to gauge the gameplay quality, be warned,) NBA Live and NFS: MW demos to test the system on your LCD. ;)
 
Well the poor bitch i am is gonna have to wait to get his first 360 game a couple of days after i have the Console itself.

So exactly how many demos are there? A Pgr 3 and Pd0 one would be perfect to make up my mind on which to buy.

Yes, sadly it will take me a while to get Live since I need the wireless connector (and knowing how I can put my router on multi). The test is already done (I had to put the connector on "TV" instead of "HD" and it didn´t support any resolution beyond 480 from menu) so I have put it off. I will wait to friday for getting the new TV to connect again and experience it with some style :P
