Nexus 6P | OT | Its also the best Android Phone

I got the gel case from Google. I love it. The back feels fantastic.

Got my replacement phone and it is early, but I feel like the battery is better. Will give it a few more days of real day to day use but so far, I am a believer. Those with battery problems, I say ask for a new phone. Wouldn't hurt to try.
Mine actually beats out my wife's iPhone 6S in terms of remaining battery at the end of each day. Granted, I think she uses her phone more than I use mine, but it's still phenomenal for an Android phone to tread into iPhone territory in terms of battery.

Got up at 5:30am and I'm sitting here at my desk at work at 2:44 with 68% battery left. Feels good man.

I'd be scrambling to charge my Nexus 5 at this point in the day usually.

It's Google services that's killing my battery. It takes up like 200 mah.
That's weird. I get at least 4 hours of sot and I always keep it at full brightness, 4g + wifi when it's available, facebook, instagram, spotify etc etc. Probably faulty battery or some software bug?

Got mine today and unboxed it and played around a bit. This thing is GREAT. Feels every bit the premium phone like no Android device I've ever had before. Really impressed. Was very difficult to box it up for a week til the birthday like I promised I would :P

Got one today. Was a bit concerned about the size but it fits in the pocket without much of a problem.

Phone seems great so far too.

Hey let us know your thoughts on the phone once you get it. I have a Z3 that is somewhat broken right now and thinking about replacing it. I'm more interested in battery life comparisons between the two.

Nexus 6p is a nice upgrade.
Screen is much better, speakers are much better, camera is much better. Battery life is about the same as the Z3 without stamina mode turned on. I can get through a full day of moderate to heavy usage with brightness turned down.
Only thing I miss from the Z3 is one handed ease of use and waterproofing.

Definitely a software issue. Play Services freaks out with WiFi. I disabled WiFi location scanning. Let's see how that goes.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the updates for Play Services? That usually fixes issues with it.
I haven't. I thought that was bad practice. But I'm at the point where I'll try anything. I should probably reset, actually.

Yeah, I'll reset today. I'm annoyed plenty.

I don't see how it would be bad practice, but I actually had major issues with my Play Services on my old Nexus 5 (to the point where a lot of apps just flat out stopped working, and I was ready to replace the phone), and doing that fixed it.

Alright just uninstalled it. Let's see how it performs.

I hate these battery issues :/

I uninstalled Facebook and battery is still shit. so it's definitely not Facebook.

It's actually even trashier without Facebook

Resetting is last resort though.

Man, Bluetooth on Nexus devices sucks. My N6P constantly disconnects during calls in my car. At least it's better than my old N6 that I often had to restart just to get it to connect to my car or my Bluetooth speakers at home. My work phone is Samsung Note 4 and always works perfectly with the same devices, never had a problem.

I don't have this issue.

Turn off aways on omay Google and disable WiFi scanning. Also disable location permission for chrome. After doing this and using the phone, my battery life git a lot better. 4.4-5 hours on average. Not as good as my opo but not bad. Also make sure you didn't turn adaptive brightness off. Shit definitely helps.

What is WiFi scanning? I see the network notification option is that what you are talking about or are you talking about keeping WiFi on during sleep?

Has anyone had an issue with audio pausing at random? I'm trying to figure out of my podcasts pausing at random has to do with the connection to my headphones or false positive from the in-line controls or something. Are there gestures or something else in the phone that I am missing that is seemingly causing my podcasts to stop playing while I'm walking around?

Are you using Stitcher? I get that problem a lot, too, but I think it's a Stitcher thing.

I'm using Pocket Casts... and I'm not streaming podcasts. I used to have similar problems using a different app on my Nexus 5, but I was always streaming podcasts and that was usually because of a loss of a data connection or something.

This has happened a handful of times right when I sit down in the car, which makes me think that the headphone jack feels a little pressure or something and it thinks that the headphones were unplugged. Maybe I'll stop tucking the cable under my shirt for awhile and see if that fixes the problem. Hope I don't have to do that though, cord always ends up getting tangled in something otherwise.

Wife got back with this beauty about an hour ago and after getting it all set up jumped online. HOLY SHIT THIS SCREEN IS GLORIOUS!!! The screenshot thread in particular is jaw dropping. My screen doesn't turn off after 15 seconds where I put it though so figuring that out.

Thing is so fast and smooth.

Got the S6 Edge+ BTW

Ummm... This is the Nexus 6p thread...

Have no issues with any of my numerous Bluetooth devices. Cars, speakers, watch, hrms, headphones, etc on the 6 or 6p.

I'd bet the Samsung is better at dealing with a shitty Bluetooth device than the nexus stack may be.

Having issues getting Lightflow to work when its from a specific contact. Seems to be fine when its based on the application sending the notification.

Lord have mercy, the Spigen Rugged Armor case is 100x better than the Adopted case and the carbon fiber doesn't look as tacky as it does in photos.

I took a picture of my TV the other night when playing Battlefront in a nearly dark room (other than the TV) and the room was brighter in the picture than in real life and it wasn't a blotchy noisy mess. The camera is seriously good.

After own g this phone for the last two weeks, I can honestly say it's the best phone I've ever had.
It's a close tie to my nexus 4 but everything about this phone is such great value, the camera, speakers, screen and marshmallow are for me android at its best.

I got my phone back from repair for the audio issues. The repair report says that they found the audio fault and that a master reset/update solved it. But I did a factory reset before sending it off, and they found an issue after that so...

It does sound fine now though but the problem was intermittent before. Hopefully it is fine.

I want to say that I tried a factory reset an additional time and it didn't help but I am not certain.

EDIT: It is not fixed.

Man I really wish I got Spigen Rugged case instead of trying out the Ringke case. Shipping took forever, the case smudges too easily, the cutout for the fingerprint scanner is way too big and off-center, the 3.5mm jack won't fit anything other than my earbuds and the lip is too thin and sharp.

Also got the first of my 3 usb type c cables and for some reason it's non-compliant even thought the 1m version of it is.

They always pull this nonsense.

Ask for further compensation for having your time wasted.

Managed to get my SOT from barely 3 hours to barely 5 hours by turning on adaptive brightness. The screen doesn't look as nice but you have to sacrifice something for battery life.

I wish I could do that. Are you 5 hour SOT guys always on WiFi? Do you have Wear connected? Google Fit?

I bought a pair of the Xiaomi Piston 3 Earbuds but my phone won't recognise them. Other headsets work just fine. Has anyone ran into a similar issue? The earbuds work on my laptop, so they are probably not faulty. Not sure what to do here.

I managed to make they work once by re-inserting them after fiddling around for a bit, but its not consistent. Which is a shame beacuse for the price the earbuds seem to be great.

Edit: okay, I can make them work if I insert the connector up until before it "clicks". There will be a static noise sound coming from the headset and then it works, and I can insert it completely and the phone will still recognise it, but the volume controls don't work. What could it be?

So again what exactly is the audio issue you've been having?

I can hear some static noise from time to time but only in certain songs. It sounds like an old radio frequency but not always and it's very faint.

I dunno... It is annoying though.
